First Operating module - help needed
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some help, please. I want to start on my first operating module(s). The idea behind these module(s) are to have a little switching possibility, along with some nice scenery. This will allow me to exhibit these modules ("dioramas") at our local train shows and having the option of doing some switching while people are looking at the module(s).

Uggggggh. Why does this always happen?
Just finished an Intermountain PS 4750 kit that has been modified to a Trinity Rail covered hopper with Plano etched parts, and painted and decaled it as well. Then the trouble begins, slight nudge of a poorly placed elbow and there it goes to the floor.
The question is, how often does everyone else get into this issue?
Second question is, where do I find the a ladder and a spare train line without buying a whole new kit? Although that may not be a bad idea since I am building 4 and the spare parts would be handy.

Burnt grass field
Has anyone out there ever modeled a burnt grass field? If so, can you share any images?
To glue or not to glue
I recently acquired a small fleet of tank cars that I need to add some weight. I plan on drilling a small hole in the bottom and adding shot. From your experience, do I add glue and then plug the hole or just plug the hole and let the weights adjust as necessary?
Would love to hear the disadvantages of either/both approaches.

First Steamer for the Augusta & New Arcadia RR
Dear all
Today I completed my first HOn30 locomotive for my freelanced Augusta & New Arcadia RR, set in the Eastern US in the 1930's.
3d printer ordered - bit of an impulse buy...
Been planning on getting into 3d printing....have some needs plus have always thought the process was cool, if a bit expensive. However, just think I did it backwards now. Instead of learning free CAD and testing with Shapeways, etc, I just impulse bought an Orion Tech 3d printer from WalMart of all places.
However, before you think I've gone off the deep end, the price of getting anything larger than small details can run you $30+ for each plus shipping. my local 3d hub shows $60 min order for anything over about 5 inches in any direction.
EMF setting problem on Rapido LRC locomotive
I have a Rapido LRC locomotive I'm trying to get running smoothly.
Several times I've done what Rapido calls the "awesome slow speed thingy" in the manual (setting CV54=0, and the pushing F1). After the most recent run of this, the LRC has these CV readings:
How do you remove the shell from a Rivarossi Krauss Maffei?
I recently acquired the Rio Grande version of Rivarossi's Krauss Maffei diesel -- a powered unit and a dummy. The motor in the powered unit needs to be cleaned and lubricated. I can't for the life of me figure out how to remove the shell. It may simply pop off, but I'm afraid to force it and break something.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
