A 4 by 8 for Thecad and other newbies
This is a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood that didn't grow. It has provided plenty of enjoyment for the forty five years I've had the pleasure of visiting and operating it. It remains covered most of the time now. When the great grandchildren are a little older I'm sure that it will come to life a little more regularly. The cover works well, no dust and easily removed!
cinder ballasted track
I have seen images of cinder ballasted track and even crushed cinder platforms, but only in black & white photos.
Has anyone out there modeled cinder ballasted sidings, branch lines, or crushed cinder platforms? I'm currently researching what the look of cinder ballasted track looks like especially aged with the accumulation of dirt on it. I think it would look good on my branch line terminus.

DC locomotive needing to be hand-started - help?
Hi all,
My train club recently asked me to build a locomotive for them, to run back and forth on a mining line above the club's O/On30 layout. The donor is one of the HO scale Bachmann Christmas Trolleys (http://shop.bachmanntrains.com/images/HO_Scale/61040.jpg).
Revell Sand house
Hi All, anybody know if the old Revell sand house had a prototype either in the hobby press or in real life? Modeling the Blue Hill and Eastern in Maine. Thanks Geoff

Canopy 560 Glue
I'm always a day late and a dollar short so forgive me for being late to the discussion. I am reading the June issue and there is talk of Canopy 560 glue.

Engine Shop details Large "modern" Lathe
So, at my Club, we're finally getting ready to fix and detail the interior of the roundhouse.
The structure is the Walthers kit. A brick building, fairly large. There was some discussion and while we all liked the idea of a vast pull driven shop, we all agreed that for the model as we have it, that might be a little out of place. At minimum, the belt driven machines would likely have been retrofitted with Electric motors.

Funaro resin car build of Illinois Traction Hopper
In this blog I hope to document the building of an HO scale Illinois Traction System hopper from a resin Great Northern kit made by Funaro. The following is a builders photo from the collection of M. D. Fortney.
