Looking to add DCC to a HO Scale Bachmann USRA 0-6-0 Steam locomotive
Hi, Everyone. I'm looking to add DCC to a Bachmann Union Pacific USRA 0-6-0 w/Vandy Tender.
Lime solution used to clean stock cars
I am trying to find out what lime streaks and lime spills would look like on ballast. Does anyone know or know a source to see images of this in colour?

EZ Command compatibility question
Okay, so, right now, my layout's DCC system is Bachmann EZ Command.
How do trains stay on the rails in a curved section of track?
I found this in a Popular Mechanics article that I happened upon on the Internet.
If you search YouTube for stable rollers you can get to the video directly again.

I found it very interesting indeed. For me, "Goes to show that you don't know what you don't know!"

New Tech DCC (an open letter to DCC manufacturers
The recent LCC thread and the two threads on ne handsets got me thinking. What follows is my personal thoughts.
i think that DCC is getting the blame for problems that are not really it's own fault. Many in this hobby blame the difficulty we have setting up a DCC system and or a new engine/ decoders on DCC. A lot of us use Decoder Pro to avoid or work around some of these issues. But really is the problem with DCC or with the systems currently being sold?

TORTOISE SWITCH MACHINES FOR N-SCALE TURNOUTS?
I am planning on using Tortoise switch machines on my n-scale layout. I have watched a number of videos and read a bit about them, and they seem straight forward.
One question, though. Are there Tortoise switch machines made specifically for N-Scale? Are they "one-size-fits-all"?
I ask because it seems that you would need to consider the throw distance for an N-Scale turnout, and make adjustments for that in the Tortoise set-up. It appears no such adjustment is needed for HO-scale.

First Look: 3-D Printed REA Express Building for Union Station
After mostly finishing Union Station, I got to looking at the REA Express Building just to the right of the station. I had originally planned on using a printed paper facade glued to foam board and decided that the building really needed to be 3-D to complement the main station. So over the last couple of weeks, I designed and 3-D printed the building as shown in the video above.
