Angry Letters to the Editor
My roommate are always joking that I'm an old man, and I should be writing angry letters to the editor...
Well, I've been doing just that today.
Several months ago, I ordered a year subscription to MRVP... and for about a little over a month, I haven't been able to access it.
Non Train Related (unless ideas?)
A meandering blog...
I have been here for one year, as of today. I'm thinking of doing just a single blog, but, it might be a bit all over the place if I do (as I am a sort of "all over the place" kinda guy) This week, I may be all about Oscars and Pikers, and the next, about wood burning steam locos, and maybe the following week, I'll be obsessed with Steampunk... or Tongue in Cheek... or the history of a company that has made model railroading stuff forever!
Most Ridiculous Kitbashed Engine or Rolling Stock
Okay... kets see what you got!
This was inspired by "Pugatch and Sons R.R."
He suggested until the end of April... let's see what sort of Ridiculous Kitbashed Engines or Rolling Stock you have!
Time to indulge your fantasies!
Ridiculous Train Sets
I put this in "Community" as it's about train sets, but not really about modeling so much (unless the blog ends up heading that direction)
But... remember some of the absolutely ridiculous (as in FREEKING AWESOME) train sets in the 80s?
I think Tyco was the king of licensed train sets (heck, the earliest one I've seen was the "Petty Coat Junction" set, which... I plan to someday find! Okay... okay... I already know where to get it... heh)
Adventures in DCC...
So, I've installed decoders before... I don't do any hard wiring, just 8 pin plug stuff... so a couple of months ago I bought a decoder for an engine it wouldn't fit... and it's just kinda sat here... so I decided, since I was having issues with another decoder, I would switch it out. Easy peasy... just unplug the old, and plug in the new.
Put it on the tracks, and there was this horrifying screeching noise, and then smoke!
EZ Command Experiment
I did an experiment tonight.
I use the Bachmann EZ Command DCC system. I have the EZ Commander, and two "Walk Around Companions" on my layout.
So I placed all of my DCC engines on the layout tonight. (I usually run with just six DCC sound engines, one lighted car that uses track power, and one DCC sound car)
So tonight, I put them all on.
NINE DCC sound engines, ONE DC engine (the Pegasus) the light caboose (Proto 2000) and the BLI sound cattle car.
Boxcab Diesel Track Cleaner
Or should I say "Boxcab Oil-Electric" (as folks didn't want to say "diesel" after WWI, for silly reasons)
I finbally got one... just ordered it today. I've been keeping quiet about it, because it's been in my watch list for over a week on eBay... I handed a flatmate some money to put into my PayPal, and he sent an e-check, which took a freekning WEEK to clear, but it clared this afternoon, and I managed to get it just as someone else put it in their watch list.
So anyway... here's the beauty right here:
On this day, in 1804...
On this day, in 1804, the first steam powered train journey was made.
