Recessed Car Card Boxes
I have been working on the recessed car card boxes for Coatesville. I want to maximize the aisle space so I recess all the switch controls and car card boxes into the fascia. I use horizontal pockets, pigeon holes, made from wood, hardboard and lath.

SoundTraxx Econami Availability
Has anyone heard what the status is or the availability of Econami decoders? My LHS cannot get any, my Internet sources say that they are out of stock due to a component shortage and one dealer said his orders have been denied.
SoundTraxx is not responding to my Tweets, so I'm taking this to MRH, maybe they monitor this site. What's the scoop? I standardized on them, having been buying them regularly as budget allows and now I'm stuck in my sound conversion project.
Roll Up Doors in the 1930's?
Does anyone know if roll up type doors were used in warehouses / factories in the 1930's.
I haven't had much success searching the internet or locating a photo.

Modeling the Pre-Depression Years: 1900-1930
Let's talk about modeling in the years before the Great Depression. This blog is an open discussion to assist modelers in understanding prototype railroads and industries so we can better recreate these on our home layouts.
Repaint #325 Fundraiser
A bit off topic but the Minnesota Transportation Museum is looking for help to repaint its SDP40 back to Great Northern Big Sky Blue this year. This is one of the only SDP40s left in existence, it was the last working passenger locomotive on a Class I railroad, and any help in preserving this unit would be appreciated!
Here's to hoping that Athearn releases an SDP40 someday to follow up on their excellent SDP45s as well.
To James Six - Re your three recent threads
Mr. Six:
Hopefully none of us who have posted to any or all of your three recent threads have said or done something offensive which caused you to remove those most interesting and valuable threads.
If so, I apologize for any or all who have done so (especially if it was me) and humbly request that you restore or restart those for the enjoyment and benefit of the many folks who have been following them.

Another missing thread
I seem to be unable to find a recent thread to which I wanted to add something. I posted some photos last night to the thread about simple coal unloading facilities and this morning I can't seem to find it. I tried searching for "coal" but that didn't find it either. Unfortunately I don't recall if the thread was a blog entry or a discussion entry.
Is this another case of a blog entry that was removed by it's initial author or am I just having a senior moment?
Just curious...
We need a switch machine with more contacts
Our club has been using Tortoise switch machines on a HO scale yard. There are 2 pair (3 tracks) of Tortoises that switch the electricity between seperate power packs. We have been using the 2 internal sets of Tortoise contacts to switch the positive rail and to energize the frog. The negative rails have been wired in common. We now want to seperate the common rails with another set of contacts to be able to switch the negative rails between the power packs.

same DCC address to two turnouts?
Hi,
I was wondering what would you recommend for something like a simple run-around section like this:
So far I gave all turnouts individual addresses but it struck me as a waste of buttons and maybe of logic. If both turnouts are switched in sync with a single address, wouldn't it make it easier to operate? Are there any downsides of this that I don't see?
