Video tutorial on Aspen trees

Hi! This week I´ve been working to find a realistic, easy routine with low cost material to model Aspen trees.
I hope you like it. Love you all and wish you a nice modelling weekend!

Fonda Johnstown & Gloversville

I had just purchased two of the new Atlas S2's in the FJ&G paint scheme, which I figured would be a natural paint scheme progression for my Moosehead Western. As I was beginning to remove the lettering and start the decaling process for the Moosehead, I decided to look into the FJ&G. Seems this is a fascinating short Short Line with a very rich history. Beautiful locomotives and the Brill Bullet Interurbans. 4-4-0 locomotives and small 0-8-0 and 0-6-0's that pulled their hearts out moving freight.

0n30 Layout started

Testing out some track placement for the layout, which will eventually be called the "Dry Fork Coal & Timber"

I have three K-27's from Sunset models in HOn3.

All out of gauge... They couldn't clear a turnout without derailing.

I've regauged them to NMRA specs.

This (and the other) locomotive has a long list of work done to make it work.

Help wanted on BL C-16

I need help with a modeling project which I know is an old one. I have two Broadway Limited D&RGW C-16 which I would like to superdetail and bring them up to the same standard as the MMI C-19.

This means getting rid of the plastic moulded pipework and replacing fittings with castings and I remember seeing an article some while ago about doing just that. Does anyone have any knowledge of that article and point me in the right direction in finding it.

Club Home layout or both

Do you belong to a club and have a home layout? If so why? I do and am happy to be doing so.  I have several reasons. They are: I can do things in one place I cannot at the other.. The club while very tolerant of everyone had to establish some parmeters. The membership established a New England railroad set in 1985.This allows me to own modern equipment and many New England RR diesels I can’t justify ion my home steam era layout.

Small buildings you wished exist in kit form?

So with my schools engineering club doing fundraising now I am considering designing a kit that we could produce more in bulk that we could advertise instead of just individual work. So what are some small building that you would like to see in kit form (what scale/scales too) I am looking for ideas and want to see what is not yet out there.

Berlin 1929 - Gas Works Track Plan.

I’ve not been very good at keeping you guys updated about this project. I keep taking piccies and I just can’t get around to doing the blogging bit. I should be more of an exhibitionist, I’m not built that way. In the intervening time since my last post, I’ve played around with it, sorted one or two things out, and finally sorted out what the benchwork is going to look like.

Lack of yard lead tracks

One of the things that I notice on even the largest layouts is the lack of yard lead tracks in their yards.  I consistently see large yard ladders with no apparent way to actually work them.  What I mean is a way to actually disassemble or assemble trains.   A yard ladder without a lead track to me looks like a place to simply park trains.

Here is where I got the most useful info on designing a functioning classification yard.
