Digital (and removable) backdrop

I thought I’d share a photo showing my just installed backdrop. This photo basically shows the whole layout with the exception of about five feet on the left side.

The backdrop was produced digitally in Photoshop and printed on a large format printer in five separate sections. The sections are simply clipped on the top and bottom of the underlying masonite backdrop. This way if I decide to change layout themes the backdrop can be easily removed. All I need to do now is seal the seams and do a little extra work around the river crossing.

Questions Concerning the Union Pacific Dash 8-40c Locomotives

Hello, All

This is my first post on this forum. Yay! smiley I do have a few questions concerning the Union Pacific Dash 8-40c Locomotives.

- Are there any UP Dash 8-40c still in service on the UP?

- Were their any UP Dash 8-40c locomotives painted with the flag scheme?

- How long were they?

CHICAGO HOBBY SHOPS

Once again we call upon the vast combined knowledge of Modelers. This time in Illinois.

In about two weeks my brother and I are going to take an Amtrak Journey. We will be in Chicago for about 3-4 hours bewteen trains and I was wondering if anyone knows a hobby shop, either downtown or EASILY accessible from a Metra Station that would be convenient to visit. This would be on a Saturday.

I thank you all in advance for your collective wisdom and time.

Walther's Northern Light and Power Electrical question

Hey,

I'm planning on using a Walther's Northern Light and Power kit on my Illinois Terminal railroad to represent a "downtown" powerstation with a spur for coal delivery, probably late 1930's to early 1940's.

Expert's recomendation on beginner literature

Our club was at the Roundhouse show at the B&O railroad museum this past weekend and we had a gentleman stop by who was brand new to the hobby. We talked with him for a while and he asked, what would be a good overview of the different scales and the related aspects.

Power source for Digitrax Loconet units

The Digitrax UP5, BDL168, DS64, SE8C, LNW1, UR90, UR91 and PM42 all require a 300 mA 14 V DC input. Instead of using several Digitrax PS14 or equivalent adapters, is it possible to feed all these units from one transformer delivering 14 V DC?

I've tried to ask this on the Digitrax user forum, but get one yes and one no as answers. Has anyoune tried this out?
