0n30 Change?
No this is not HO. This is an 0n30 2-6-6-2, that i picked up at a train show one month ago. i know that my first post said something about Conrail, but i've tossing around the idea of doing 0 scale narrow gauge for some time. It would also allow me to be able to scratchbuild more wooden structures, which i like doing. i also own 2 more 0n30 locos with a decent amount of rolling stock.

Boston area hobby shops or train related things to see.
I am going to Boston in July for a concert. I understand Charles Ro. is in the area. Is it worth a visit? Anything else in the area to see?

Perfect photo day if... Is there anyone who can
Is there someone who can (in the northeast snowstorm) photograph a bunch of switch heaters in operation?
I know... who wants to travel in the mess? But this IS a perfect day for this subject.
No doubt others will join me in thanks.

Box cars from other country in the US
Would 50 foot steel box cars from Canada like CP and CN make thier way into the southern states of the US in the late 60s and ealry 70s? As for south as the San Diego area? I've seen pics of these box cars in the US, but only in the mid-western states and east coast.
where do i find code 100 rail
Looking for just the rail for a couple projects that I want to start. The search on ebay has been fruitless and the search online has gone no where. I had a place to go and get it but they retired a couple years ago. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Smoking motor
I have 3 "old" DC/DCC Atlas engines (HO Scale), Amtrak GE 505, 506 and 515 which came with some obsolete Atlas DCC decoder. I'm upgrading them to brand new Tsunami 2 PNP with sound.
Did the first one with no problem.
On the second one, after I replaced the Atlas DCC decoder by the Tsunami 2, first thing I did as usual is run it on the workbench. As soon as I get it in reverse even at 1/4th speed, the motor starts smoking.
