The legality of taking pictures or videos from a moving train.

It was snowy, the train was late and once aboard, I started shooting scenery.  The conductor stopped me from filming as he stated that it was illegal.  I complied and asked him if it was a Federal, State or Local law that would prevent me from shooting scenery - to which he replied: its against the law.

N-Scale Body Mount Coupler Solution

N-scale Body Mount Coupler Solution

I like the concept of body mount couplers on N-scale rolling stock.  But I have had issues with negotiating the tighter radius curves on a small layout.  Back when I first decided to run N-scale, I designed a larger layout with an average of 22-inch radius curves.  Now that my focus of design has switched to a smaller operations based layout, my curve radius has changed to smaller radius measurements.  Some as tight as 9 inches.

Easy Model Railroad Inventory Information

I would like to encourage everyone who is using Easy Model Railroad Inventory to make sure they have, either on CD or flash drive, a copy of the installation program. Why you might ask.

History of US Model Railroad Periodicals before World War 2

I am putting together a list of magazines regularly featuring Model Railroad topics before the start of WW2. I would ask you to review this list for completeness and accuracy. Since I was born after WW2, all this information was required second hand from primary resources, such as actual issues of these magazines.

Running DC engine with a DCC system

I am building a layout that will be DCC, however I have a lot of old brass that will take some time to install decoders in.

What I had thought of doing is getting a large decoder, something like a 5 amp G scale decoder and wire that between my NCE system and the track. There by replacing a decoder in the tender with a decoder under the layout.

I would then have a separate DCC wire running from the NCE system to the wire bus. Then I would have a switch where I could toggle between running DCC engines and a DC engine on the layout.
