Looking for the right mounting screws
Greetings. Not much of a blog but an inquiry. I own a Car Works O scale diesel (VO 1000) made in Korea. There are no chassis to body adherence screws except for one that is struggling to hold the entire body down! There are six possible spots where the screws go through the chassis into the body. These might be metric screws. Does anyone know what screws are required for this make engine? I believe Car Works is no longer in business.
Much thanks for the info.

How is speed controlled by the decoder?
Hello. I've got a question that arose from a presentation on speed matching done by a couple of our freemo club members for the rest of the group. My dad had asked them how the decoder regulates speed, in which he asked if it used variable DC or pulse width modulation. One of the presenters said that the decoder uses the former instead of the latter. My dad and myself included were skeptical of this answer since variable DC produces quite a lot of heat in comparison to pulse width modulation.
Walthers 90' turntable runs ok from control box but not with DCC commands -- solved !!
Have been MRH subscriber from the very beginning, but this is my first post to MRH forum.
First some background.
Because I live in Finland, I bought Walthers (Heljan) 90' DCC Turntable (933-2849) last year in February via German agent Sammler-Service because it is much more easy to pay in Euros than Dollars. Have not used/tested the TT until last Thursday.
Now the problem...

Automating Functions for a Single-Operator Layout
Hi all,
My Bradford Valley Lumber co. layout models a backwoods logging operation, with a single-track line, and only one train running at the one time. As such, the layout is designed for one person to operate.
While I was figuring out exactly how the BVLC's operations would work, it struck me that I could use Arduino microcontrollers to simulate and semi-automate various functions related to operations.
Reducing the Minimum Radius for Steam Engines.
I have run across a few comments on other websites that I never heard of to allow a model steam engine to run a tighter radius. I wanted to know if this is more common than I think.
The example I will use is a 2-8-0 say in On30, but I guess it could be any scale and include 2-6-0s. From the manufacturer the arrangement is the outer axles have flanged drivers while the two middle axles have blind drivers. I hope I'm describing this correctly.

Freedom One Controllers by MRC
Club is considering using Freedom One for sound on our DC narrow gauge loop.
I searched this site for Freedom One and found nothing. Does anyone have experience or wisdom or both with this product line?
Thank you,

Choosing a locomotive
Simple question from a beginner: how do I choose a loco for my layout? My layout is an HO trunkline, designed for the 1960s in the south. Just having a hard time trying to choose the right loco. Do I go used to tinker around with one, or go new (and expensive)? Any advice would be appreciated.
