Model Railroad Street Running

I am writing an article on Street Running in model railroading if anybidy could gove me some pictures or info it would be greatly appreciated!

Very nice HOn3 layout

Saw this on an auction site. The modeling is just as stunning as the asking price. Purportedly the builder did this in about 825 hours of work over 4-1/2 months.

Desert scenery mini diorama

Way back in the mid-1980s, I created a bunch of HO scale, mini dioramas of desert scenery, featuring the types of plants and terrain found in parts of the Anza-Borrego desert of San Diego County. These were sealed under glass domes and given to various family and friends for Christmas.

Not Quite Model Railroading

So, my daughter came home with a project idea for one of her classes.  They have been divided into groups and have to do a report/presentation on different regions of Canada.  Their group got the Cordillera region, which encompasses most of BC, the Yukon and a bit of Alberta.  She suggested to her group to do a 3D map of the area, and her Dad could help!

"Boulder Ridge" Free-moN Module WIP 02/22/15

Most of you have read my pink foam fiasco. Suffice to say that issue has been solved and I'm moving forward. The show is coming up this next weekend and the guys asked if I would bring my work in progress modules to the show. Being the seeker of punishment that I am, I said okay.

I've finally got taken some time to work on the BNML again. Lets get some light on the situation!

In this thread, I will describe my lighting, beginning with the valance and lighting structure.

Dear Abby: Help, I've lost that magic smoke!

Dear Abby,

OK, it's not as bad as it sounds, but I attempted to install a Digitrax DN136PS decoder in a friend's HO scale Bachmann GP40 -- the newer version, DCC-ready with an eight-plug. A pretty good little runner on DC.

So, been here, done this -- orange wire is pin 1. Plug decoder male pins into circuit board female receptors. No worries, right?

Well, after dialing in address 03, all I got was an unprogrammed Rule 17 light show on both ends and no motion. Turned off the Digitrax DCC.

Grass Help

Followed the directions and may not be doing something correctly for the static grass applicator. First of all, the Scenic material is kind of clumpy in the container and doesn't seem to flow freely. I am mixing two colors to achieve the look I want. Is there something I have to do to break apart this material?

Custom detail parts - best use yet for Shapeways

As many of you know, I've been experimenting with 3D printing through Shapeways, trying to learn what is possible and what is practical.  While I've tried (and mostly succeeded with) a variety of models and parts of models, I am thinking that one of the best applications is the ability to create inexpensive detail parts, especially in HO scale.  Not only can I create parts for less than the cost of the same part on the shelf, but I can create custom versions with relative ease.  Take this, for example:
