"Work Lights" for photos?

Had some time to kill today between lab work and Doctor appointments....uggh..... and was looking around the local stores pricing out the items to make DIY photo lighting as suggested by a friend. As it turns out, by the time I buy everything to do that I can put in about five more bucks  and get some of those dual halogen work lights on a stand. Didn't I see Charlie Comstock and/or someone else suggest those lights for taking photos?   Since they are halogen and made for work lights, I don't know what the color temp is.

Taking exactrail boxcars apart

Hi gang,

I have been tinkering with adding weight to my various cars, and I have found myself unable to open my exactrail cars...

Any tips? or should I just drill a hole in the bottom and fill them up with sand?

Thankyou,

Martin

Playing in the locomotive shop Part 2.

"On a late Pacific Northwest summer evening in September 1973, the rhythmic sounds of crickets chirping is interrupted by the low grumbling sound of Burlington Northern C-636 4360 as she sits idling outside the locomotive shop. Her sister 4368 takes her turn inside for routine maintenance".

Rivarossi Centipede tender wobble

Hi all,

I have 2 Rivarossi locomotives, a UP 4-8-4 FEF and a UP 4-8-8-4 Challenger.

Their tenders are identical, and they share a common issue: when they run, the tender wobbles visibly. I know these models are a bit outdated and have been surclassed by Atheran and other manufacturers, but I'm not a rivet counter and they work fine for me...except for the tender wobble.

Marion 4160 Shovel painted and lettered

Although I still have a few details I would like to add, the Marion 4160 is painted and assembled, ready for me to start building a diorama.

Is your layout your happy place?

Just a thought here, don't get me wrong.

I have seen some stunning images on this website of the most realistic looking rolling stock, locomotives and scenery. I have seen snow scenes, graffiti strewn freight cars and bucolic farm scenes. They look awesome, they look real; they are amazing. But my question is this: Does your layout reflect your happy place?

Athearn Sw/7 Cow and Calf.  Cow powered, Calf Dummy - who makes a good draw bar for these?  The railroad in question used a draw bar, so it is prototypical, and it solves the bad coupler issue I was looking at.

Got a show coming up this Saturday, so a good time to look for them at various vendor stations, but I need to know whose part to look for.
