Benchwork Progress
After a short stint in the hospital for a bout of pneumonia, I have managed to get some more work done on the layout reconstruction.
Which MV lense to use?
Is there an MV lense suitable for HO steam classification lights like the Cal-Scale 280?
Thanks!

Trouble with engines
Good evening forum, I need some help with a problem I am experiencing. I just finished setting up my mainline and proceeded to test it with one of my engines. I have a GP 9 from Athearn (3153FW) and when I attempted to run this I would get power in places and some sparking from the engine. I then tried an SD40-2 Snoot from Athearn #4808) and no sparking but the same situation as the GP 9 intermittent power on different areas of the track. I then put my Bachman Spectrum GE 70 ton Diesel (#81108) on the track and it ran beautifully without any issues.

OP Session on the BNML - January 16, 2016
Another OP Session was held on the BNML this weekend.
Rico, Ian, and Ian's father 'Zee' all made the trek south in the bitter cold to spend a day working my layout, and a day they did spend!
Shift start was scheduled for 1pm. Rico was running a little late, but called ahead to stake his claim on the BNSF job in Noyes. Ian and Zee arrived on time and after a short tour for Zee they were set loose on CN 532, which was waiting for them in Morris.
Step-by-step: hand-laying track on a truss bridge
Having very limited experience in hand laying track, I was concerned about getting it right on a Howe truss bridge (180' HO from Hunterline). I sought the advice from forum members in this thread and did some other research as well. The following is the end result.
The photos illustrating the process follow in the next post.

Lead or Zinc?
This topic has probably been covered before, but I am wondering if newer locomotive runs form Athearn, Atlas or Walthers have Lead or Zinc Alloy weights inside? I would like to remove some weight from a Proto 2000 RS27 to add a speaker buy don't really want to grind on a Lead block. I am assuming that it is Zinc because there are no warnings on any newer packaging but never hurts to asks.
Thanks
Brad
A hole in the street
Well this will work. Just use your imagination as you view the short video. Imagine the road surface is asphalt with plenty of potholes and broken pavement. The hole in the street will look just like a typical pothole. It it works great!

JL&T Railroad Blog - A few small alterations to the track plan...
After last Tuesday nights Ops session Brendan and I were talking about a few little additions to the new Rutherford Yard area that would make it operate easier and add to the operations side of the layout.
