JMRI - NCE USB
Hey everyone, I have recently purchased a NCE USB to run with JMRI.
However, I am having difficulty with the USB itself, as one LED will show at a time, either the USB near PC end, or the CAB PCP end. Still unable to program anything with it.
I have downloaded recent drivers, made sure it is set as the 7.x.x version and also removed appropriate jumpers on the USB. I am using the curly cord on the right side of the PCP like instructed.
Also i am running Windows 7
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Home Stretch Benchwork
More progress on the new layout. I have finished the installation of the uprights; added power with several outlets; put in a panel for building lights and accessories to be powered by a separate power pack; put in a panel for track power with most of the elements.
Flour Mill Kitbash
I took a break from paper mill work this weekend to finish an old kitbash I started 20 some years ago. I used 2 Red Wing Milling kits to create a 23 inch long building designed to sit against the backdrop on a layout. I just never had one with the space to use this stinker until the Idaho Belt came along.
N scale roadbed to model HO branchline?
I'm thinking of using N-scale roadbed to model an HO branchline. I'm wondering what to use to make up the "lost width" between the two scales. Also, has anyone got a simple idea for centering the roadbed on the track centerline now that the two pieces will be separated by some sort of space. I know I can just draw a line on either side of the centerline, but that seems to be a lot like work!
Thanks, John
Almost ready to start laying track
This long weekend I finished setting down the sub roadbed and making sure everything was glued down securely. Next step, drywall compound laid in the cracks between the pieces and all of the screw heads. Get that sanded so everything is perfectly smooth and flat as a piece of glass. Then dark brown paint on the entire length. Once that dries, its time to start drawing the track plan and laying track.
I did give some thought to actually hand-laying the track, but that thought lasted about 3 seconds! :-)
Open For Business
Got the lot paved, and finally get to set out a few of the vehicles and containers I've been accumulating (mostly by being at a show, and forgetting I've already got a box full of the same sort of thing at home):

Montana Rail Link
Hi all.
So I have been a bit quiet, because I had a hard time at work the last months (I work in a model train shop in Lisbon, and Christmas is that time of the year that we have a looot of costumers to please...)
Nevertheless, I am building a small display layout, in N scale (as stated in previous blog entries), with MRL rolling stock. I asked my father to help me on building a show case.
Well, that just happened... The show is almost completed, and them I can take it back to my place, and start working on the scenery.

Powering a Lindbergh (Hawk) San Francisco Cable Car.
The NMRA Indian Nations Division (Tulsa OK) is having a module competition this year. The module must be no more than 576 square inches and have a working rail vehicle.
I have a couple of the old Lindbergh (Hawk) San Francisco cable car kits and have decide to build a 6" by *' module depicting a scene for these cars. I will probably use this as an excuse to try the Arduino PC's to control it.

Walthers ordering
I see Walthers is at it again. Nice discount on their 1953 Ford Courier ambulance. Was $15.00 NOW $7.98! When you go to order it is "Out of stock". Guess you can sell any thing at a good price if you don't have it. Bought some passenger cars one time, on sale, and after two years of not in stock I finally gave up and canceled the order. They sent reminders if I still wanted them every six months instead of letting me know they (evidently) were not going to carry them any more. They still don't list them.
Making my own modeling clay
I've been making my version of Scuptimold with a recipe I found online.
1/2 cup White Flour
3/4 cup Elmer's Glueall (PVA glue)
2 tablespoons linseed oil
1 cup pre-mixed topping compound
1 roll tp
