Ribbon Rail alignment tool

Does the Ribbon Rail alignment tool go between the rails and hold the radius while the track is spiked in place or does it butt up against the ties and form the radius? Or is it used to space two pieces of track evenly in a radius?

Thanks,

HB

Krylon H2O Latex spray paint

Has anyone had any luck finding this paint?  It was recommended by Joe in his tree making chapter from his video series.  It seems like it's been discontinued.

If that's the case, does anybody know of a similar alternative?  That is, a water-based spray paint either latex or acrylic.

Thanks,

Bill

Tracking and managing maintenance activities

First, let me say that I think Joe Fugate is some sort of marketing genius.  The title of the new book series "Run Like a Dream" is inspired.  I realize that all of my model railroad dreaming is about how the layout looks, what kinds of trains I run, operating scenarios I will execute.  I take "it will run well" for granted.  But, now I think I will also have dreams about "it runs really really sweetly."

Peco Headties

Specifically Code 83 #8 turnout.

i want to change out the headties to something closer to correctly-sized. The headties are connected to adjacent ties but don't appear to be needed for the working of the switch rod. I'll also be removing the clip.

I read one article about trimming the two ties to size. I'm thinking cutting them off and replacing them as a whole. I'll be having the ties extended in the same direction as they are.

CV programming and read back with Current Keeper added to Tsumani question............

I installed a Tsunami TS-750 in a Lee Snover O scale GE 23 Ton boxcab and did all my programming with JMRI and a laptop. As the locomotive is quite light and has only 4 wheel pick up (all available) I would get occasional drop outs and stalls, so I decided to add a Current Keeper which would just fit.  That solved the stalling problem as long as I waited to let it charge up before using.

Materials suggestion?

Hi all,

Im making a version of a building for my layout, and I've run in to a snag in terms of what material to use to simulate the finish on the outside of the building.

From what i can see on google streetview, the building has some sort of very fine corrugation on it

My first module - Laying the track

Next it is time to lay my first piece of track.

Track on bridge

First I carefully ran a fine bead of Barge Cement along the track ties on the bridge and the underside of the rails, then I had to wait 20 minutes for it to dry.
