JMRI - NCE USB
Hey everyone, I have recently purchased a NCE USB to run with JMRI.
However, I am having difficulty with the USB itself, as one LED will show at a time, either the USB near PC end, or the CAB PCP end. Still unable to program anything with it.
I have downloaded recent drivers, made sure it is set as the 7.x.x version and also removed appropriate jumpers on the USB. I am using the curly cord on the right side of the PCP like instructed.
Also i am running Windows 7
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
Re-motor project, NEW Athearn RTR Dash 9-44CW
Hey guys!
Currently in the process of re-motoring a NEW ho Athearn RTR BNSF Dash 9-44CW, i have Genesis HEX flywheels on a kato motor. any tips with re-motoring a locomotive?, at the moment it is still a little noisy. Is there any special way to attach the flywheels onto the motor shaft? or is it pretty self explanatory.
Athearn RTR motor problem!
Hey everyone!
I today purchased my first HO Athearn RTR loco, its a BNSF Dash 9.
I installed an NCE decoder from another loco so i know it is not a problem, however the motor itself sounds like an electric toothbrush on steroids!!!, even at low speed steps. I have done the first thing i could think of and that is adding a little oil to the areas i think were appropriate.
Motor conversion
Hey guys!
I can't seem to find a lot of info about motor conversions....
My question is.
What size are the shafts on the athearn hex flywheels, for the life of me i cant find any info on the size, not even on athearns site. The motor i have is a Kato HM5 so that has a 2mm shaft.
Thanks
Nick.
Proto 2000 issue!
I am currently in the middle of converting my Proto 2000 SW900/1200 to dcc, i have replaced the motor with a Mashima and the flywheels are original and it fits great. I have re-wired the trucks for better conductivity however there is an issue with it shorting out.
When i put the loco on the track with decoder installed it shorts out (there is nothing else on the track as it is a test track) i thought it may be a decoder situation so i have 2 different decoders one is a TCS and another NCE. I have tested with both and no luck.
Athearn F45 DCC sound
I have had my NCE powercab for a while now and have only over the last few months come into purchasing my first sound loco. The first thing is apparently you can change how to loco functions by changing the CVs...I have no clue how to come up with the Value after i put in the CV ? or even if i am putting in the correct CVs at all ?
Any help with this would be great, be kind I am new to world of programing decoders (haven't attempted it before now)
Nick.
Athearn RTR!
I have recently purchased two SW1500 RTR switchers, they are now DCC and run great (my first Athearn purchase).
There are a few opinions about the SW1000/1500's having different motors from the other RTR locos. I was considering a SD40-2 RTR dcc ready but I am reading a lot about Ready to REMOTOR or Rebuild, are they noisy?
However the guy that owns the shop reckons they have the same motor as the sw1000/1500?
Proto 2000
I currently have a proto 2000 switcher sw9/1200 and I am in need of some parts. However I am coming up short as I cant find anywhere that stocks them here in Australia.
I have tried walthers themselves but they seem to not stock parts either. If I am able to replace the worm and drive shafts with other branded parts I will happily do so.
Nick.
NCE! Powercab VS. CAB06
Hello everyone
I have purchased a NCE Powercab v1.65 and a CAB06.
I have connected them correctly to the PCP, however the CAB06 will not run with the Powercab v1.65.... it turns on, however the little light above the F(faward) or R(reverse) never comes on..
The CAB06 will run on the older version of the Powercab PRE- v1.65
The cab addresses different on the Powercab and CAB06.
The Wiring to the PCP is correct.
The wiring to the track is correct.
NCE decoders in all of my locomotives.
