Battery power for HO MDC Shay

Has anybody tried to use a 3-cell (3S) LiPo battery pack (11.1 volts) to power a 2-truck or 3-truck HO Shay loco?  I know that space is tight, but with LiPo packs getting smaller (at least in the 200-to-400 mAh range) it would be terrific to convert this loco to battery power. If anybody has done this, what 3S battery pack was used? What was installation process (where, how, etc.)?

"Skipjack", a TT scale PRR Delmarva layout.

This is about a small TT scale layout in a spare bedroom. The space is my in house work shop as well as hosting O scale and N scale layouts over the years. This is just a continuation of a modeler's wandering thru the hobby's many facets. The recent N layout was fun to operate but I decided a simpler track plan and concept would suit my interests  better.

Another Ops Session & Rutherford Yard test...

So Tuesday night was our semi-regular ops session again for the first time in 2016.

Unfortunately as we were busy problem solving and entertaining I didn't get any ops photos or videos.  Next ops session there will be both...

Using Circuitron FL-2 for ho vehicle rooftop flashers

I have an old Circuitron FL-2 alternating flasher unit that I want to supply a number of police cars for the roof top light bars. The light bars consist of Incandescent 1.5 volt 30mA bulbs. Each car consists of two bulbs each. The question is: Using a 12 volt input power supply, how many cars can I hook up to make flash? The FL-2 has a load capacity of 250. Thanks in advanve for any help!

Ugh, Starting Over

Okay. I concede. After three years of building and redoing I have come to the conclusion that I have made ALL THE MISTAKES. I did not have a plan at the start, or even know where I was going. Just pick out a track plan and go for it. Will now I have way to many problems to try and salvage the layout. The original layout was a Super Pretzel from the Atlas book in HO scale. I modified it by raising some of the tracks for the over and under effect. No real switching opportunities, or much in the way of branch lines.

Multiple Era Layout Decision - Before or After 1954, DT ABS or ST CTC, Steam or Diesel

Hi everyone,

I am modeling the Great Northern in Minnesota in 1954. I am building a 2x10 set of modules currently for a small switching layout and plan on building a larger mainline shelf layout in the future to add on. I am planning the layout to make it so that I can switch between 1954 other eras. This will be for 1-3 operators.

Anyone have experience with a roadbed product called Flexxbed?

Haven't tried contacting them yet to see if they're even still in business (they have a website that appears to be active anyway: http://www.hobbyinnovations.com/default.htm).  Just wondering if anyone has actually used their product (especially lately) and what your impression might be.
