Ned Help -- Correct Canon & Co. fans for SP SD-9 and GP-9's
Hello all,
I'd like to replace the fans on my P2K SD9 and GP9's but I'm having trouble knowing which ones would be appropriate. I do' not see a correct replacement from Canon and company listed. Which 36 and 48 would work for mid 70's GRIP program 9E/R's?
Also referencing the picture in the link below there is an odd flat top 36" fan on the rear of this GP9. What would be appropriate?

IAIS's West End - A new "front door" for the layout
For the past several years I've been enjoying the work of Frank Grizel, a very talented eastern Iowa photographer and painter. Last February I contacted Frank about commissioning a painting for the entry into my layout room, and this week he finished it. The painting depicts three of my favorite IAIS locomotives - SD38-2 2809, GP7M 400, and GP38-2 709 - leading a westbound grain extra over the High Bridge on the east edge of Council Bluffs.
Uncoupler lever
Dear fellows,
I would like to make uncouple levers from scratch for my SD9E, SD45-T2 and some freight cars but I need the measures of the real prototypes or the H0 measures. I have been searching on the web but I wasn´t lucky. Does somebody have this information?
Many thanks in advanced!

Alejandro

I subscribed almost four weeks ago and have enjoyed both the e-zine and the message board immensley. I do have one problem however. If I'm not careful, I could spend all my hobby time on this site and not leave any time for modelling!

Best Ho Scale Light Mikado 2-8-2
I want to get a few light Mikados for my layout. I'd like to know your opinions on who makes the most reliable DCC-ready in HO scale.

Steps for Athearn SD40
Hi,
I'm working on an Athearn SD40, and I'd like to add etched steps. As of yet, I have not been able to find any. Please note that this is an SD40, not an SD40-2. (Athearn RTR, late 2015). Are there steps made for this model? Would an SD40-2 set work?
Thanks,

Looking for HO Scale Atlas S1 in Bath and Hammondsport scheme
This model came out in 2007.
I will be modeling the Bath and Hammondsport Railroad and planned on doing it in N scale but after seeing the amount of detail present on HO models while I was at Prototype Rails 2016, I'm looking to see if I can find the Atlas S1 engines.
Both engine numbers 4 and 5 were produced and those are what I'm looking for.
If anyone has any leads, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,
Mark
Frost on the pumpkin
Saw something cool this morning that I wish I could have gotten a picture of. Several black Corn Syrup tank cars in a yard near my home had frost on the top of the cars. The top and just a foot or so down the sides. Looked really cool, the white frost on the black cars. It'll be gone soon but maybe tomorrow or the next day I can catch a shot.

Using Taskboard & Taskboard to scratchbuild bridge vs kitbashing with CV/ME Parts
I don't have the specific prototype bridges chosen yet. Much will depend on the what the prototypes did from the late 1800s to early 1910's for bridge construction in the Northeast. I am protofreelancing, and much of the backstory I have created has my railroad acquire certain right of ways in eastern PA instead of the B&LE, Erie, and Pennsy. So I am looking at many of their types of bridges, and will extrapolate my own. What I wish I had in all these books on modeling Bridges is an actual book on prototype bridges in the sense did each railroad have a pa
Best Way to Re-Attach Metal Running Boards?
A few months ago I picked up an Athearn FMC covered hopper with etched-metal running boards that had bowed up in a couple places. As seen below, they are attached with a series of pins into the carbody. Two of these pins are loose on one side and one on the other. What would be the best way to re-attach these? I haven't found a way to get inside the car so I *think* that is out of the question.
