One for Dr Geoff - Working tipple and rotary unloader
I came across a report in the Italian Tuttto Treno magazine on a huge American themed FreMo-E module event held in late 2015. This is a video of just one module:
The description in German reads:
15" radius curve
Just joined the group. Been away from HO model railroading for about 25 years. I'm going to put together another layout. It's going to have to be limited to 3-1/2 X 7 feet in size. I'm planing to do '20's and '30's rolling stock so my largest locomotive will only have 6 driving wheels. Will I run in to problems using 15" radius curves?
Thanks for any opinions. Jim B.
Track Plan Assistance
Hello, I am new to the MHR and could use some assistance. I am looking to build a layout and the space I have to build this in is a 7'x3' connected to a 6.6'x3' in an L pattern. I have been to several sites on the web and only found one Mike's Small Trackplans page that has layouts that will work however the plans on his page are in a format that I am unable to download. Is there any resource out ther that has plans for small space for HO trains.
Thanks in advance

benchwork
Am I correct in assuming that some folks are using foam directly on top of their layout framing with no wood under the foam other than the framework? If so, how thick does the foam need to be to be rigid enough?

Another side project
I cleaned up my workbench last night when I had a few minutes of time and came across a package of eraser pens I picked up at the tool store a while ago that I forgot about. One each of steel, brass and nylon. This morning when I had a few free minutes before heading to work I thought I would try out the nylon pen to see how it did on the lettering on a boxcar. I bought a pile of these Buffalo boxcars (see http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/17923 ) for a very good price but there are

Flying with Trains?
Tomorrow I leave the somewhat frozen tundra of Central Indiana for the Prototype Modelers Meet in SUNNY Coco Beach, Florida. I'm considering taking some models with me on the flight but I'm concerned that TSA / security will need to dismantle a locomotive or not allow me to check or carry-on my models.
Q: Can you give me any advice on whether or not I should take my possibly "suspicious" models along for the ride?

Paint alternatives to Floquil?
What paint is being used by those that used to use Floquil. I am not artistic and really missed the premixed colors, like grimy black aged concrete even the premixed RR colors.I am not a fan of water based paint, but if the colors were there I woud certainly try them.
