Modeling topic
Got a huge score on eBay!
So I just made a huge score on eBay. Got myself 7 undecorated National Steel Car 60' double plug door box car kits. I don't know if anyone remembers Hubert's Model Railroad Company but they had purchased all the LBF tooling when they went under. Hubert's is no longer around either. The significance of these cars are the fact that they are the only accurate model of the TBOX box car and they are undecorated kits! Three will be painted with TBOX. Two with old logo and one with new logo. The last 4 will be painted for NSC cars built in 2010 for DWC/CN using custom decals from Highball Graphics.
Basic Advice Needed on Assembling Plastic Structure Kits
I have a large number of plastic structure kits that I have been collecting since the 80's that I finally have a layout to place them on. I'd appreciate any general, basic advice members have, particularly in terms of adhesives used. I have a love-hate relationship with various forms of super glue. Aside from getting it on my fingers (don't ask me how because I don't know), I have often noticed a white residue that is sometimes present and sometimes not. What adhesives do you use for various purposes?
SD45 Handrail Stanchions
I'm rebuilding a Proto 2000 SD45 to Northern Pacific standards. As the NP had 4 side windows on its SD45 cabs it required an entirely different handrail arrangement where they attached to the cab.
Does any company make an accurate set of stanchions for use on an SD45. I did this to an old Rail Products shell years ago but can't remember what stanchions I used. They were accurate and made from brass or copper berylium.

Virginian & Appalachian (V&A) Paint Schemes
With my railroad changing name to one that is more suitable, I've done a bit of paint scheme revision.

BNSF 2674.
I grabbed a roof detail shot of BNSF GP39-3 2674 in Klamath Falls yard. I would be interested to know what the pipe like object is used for if indeed it is a pipe.

Sketch of piping layout, 2-8-0
The first step is making a sketch of the desired piping. The drawing below is not to scale, it simply shows the routing of the new piping. Existing pipes are not shown. I will not measure the wire exactly. Instead, I will lay it in and bend where appropriate.

Benchwork Start
Now that all the visitors and Christmas cookies are gone, I finally got started on the new benchwork/layout re-construction of the left side of the railroad. Having saved most all the track, switches, buildings and lumber from the previous layout, my investment so far has been eight 2x2's and a box of Tapcon Phillips head screws.

DCC to DC
Wanted to know if DCC equip will run on older DC power packs?
Abandoned spurs
All
I seem to remember reading somewhere that sometimes railroads will abandon a spur track but leave the track in place. They just remove the switch. I want to model that on my new layout so I need some pictures. Anyone have any idea where I might be able to locate such photos?
Thanks and Happy New Year to one and all.

Hi guys your help please I have one of these locos and with the exception of the airhorn, the cab has no other roof details. What other parts do I need to mirror the protype and where do can I source these from. Has anyone got any cab photos to help me with placement?
The front handrail above the anticlimber is broken and I have a part missing can you get replacement plastic handrails?
Many thanks in advance.
Kind regards
Nick
