TICHY KITS
Who has built tichy's cement car and found that this kit is a kitbached kit with no help in explaining the exit hatch doors (brass wire ???) and wire hangers to the bottom edge of body under the doors? And I can't find a proto type photo. I found the finished model photos (3) in kit so grainy and dark that they are useless! Tichy stuff is wonderful BUT this seems to be a bump in the road. I consider myself a good craftsmen. Years of building as realistic as possible BOY COULD I USE YOUR HELP! JIM
[GWMS Model Railroad Club] Help With Yard
Well I am looking for help now with some wiring. I am working on getting a switch module (see image). We will most likely be making a yard module and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for blocks. The yard blocks would be separated by track and run by the sam power pack as their respective tracks. If we were running DCC this wouldn't be a problem but we have DC if anyone could help please do. Thanks in advance, Trainmaster247.

Backdrops are now underway behind the 25th Street branch.
PDC Storage boxes
Ordered some boxes from Bill for parts and got two different sizes. They arrived in a flat small package very quickly and in the last couple days finally got assembled. I didn't look at the directions but did a dry run before gluing the parts together. My work surface is an old set of architectural drawings, a bottle of white glue, some painters tape, and rubber bands.

Feds shut down switching on the AGW
Who would have thought that the Federal Railroad Adminstration inspector would be working on Saturday night? They found this hazardous Chlorine tank in the Champion Paper Mill. It halted all switching until the mobile car repair crew could fix it with a new KD 119 shelf coupler. I put up some new video of the AGW at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Atlantic-and-Great-Western-Railway/112837688748316
Middle school model RR: the economics layer
A model railroad makes a fantastic educational vehicle for many reasons, but when you’re working with a diverse group of kids it is the wide range of interesting aspects that gives everyone something appealing to explore. One element that finds subtle expression in the models but is largely a hidden force is economics.
Metrolink Rotem Cars
Metrolink started using Rotem cars a few years ago, but it doesn't seem like anyone will produce them (or true Surfliner's for that matter). So I decided to use the generic Bachmann Commuter Cars as a base. I did up some decals in Photoshop and printed and applied. Here's a couple shots at LAUPT to celebrate National Train day.
NCE Excellence
I chose NCE when I first went to DCC, 1st for the way their controller felt and worked, 2nd because of the expandability and accessories available, and of course, because they were an advertiser in MRH. I bought the PowerCab because I was still learning DCC, and this got me into it inexpensively. It worked well, was easy to use and program, and eased my transition into DCC. It performed so flawlessly, that I bought a ProCab system, but continued to use the PowerCab at my work bench to do addressing and test loco's.
