What's On Your Work Bench?

What's on your work bench?  Here's my 6 square inches of work space . . .

N scale in Keene, NH?

I know you're out there . . .

I'm wondering if any N scalers in the Keene NH area would be interested in forming a club to help one another, share ideas and eventually share operations?

Here's what I'm thinking:

1). We would meet once a week at rotating layouts to help build or operate, depending on the needs and wants of that modeler.

2). If anyone wants to, we can work on Ntrak or MaiNetrak modules to bring to railroad shows like Springfield Winterfest in conjunction with Northeast Ntrak.

IAIS Grimes Line: Fleur Yard Procedures

Can you describe the additional work - maybe with a set of photos to illustrate?

I second Trevors request, but a video would be fantastic!

Well since you asked...

To help celebrate the four year anniversary of my IAIS Grimes Line layout, I put together a quick video highlighting the procedures at Fleur Yard.

Richlawn RR - Palmer Structure Smokestack

My next step in working on the Palmer structure is the smoke stack.  It is the most distinctive feature of the building and will be a bit of a challenge.  Here's how it looks from a distance:

Layout Update Mid-May 2015

Construction on the ATSF Paradigm Division has been progressing slowly over the last month or so.  I have been working on power district # 4 near the west helix for the past month or so. All of the track, turnouts, and wiring has been installed for Michaelson Jct. (simulates Ottawa Jct., KS) , the branch line over the top of the west helix to Michaelson, and Michaelson (simulates Ottawa, KS). Additionally, all of the sub-roadbed (plywood) for the peninsula has been installed and all of the cork roadbed has been glued down and painted with the dark base color that I have been using.

Decoder Pro Question

This is probably a beginner question but I have a NCE Power Cab system for the school club and I was wondering if I needed a separate system to use decoder pro? Any ideas?

Signal Question

I have the Bachmann double track signal bridge kit from an old set. It does not fit over the width of my double track and I was looking for suggestions. I have two ideas.

The first one being: Cut off both "legs" and mount the leg in the center instead of the edges. (not sure if this is prototypical)

The second one being: Cut off one leg but not have it centered over each track, (also not sure if this is prototypical)

Happy birthday behind live steam!

We'll take a hiatus from Siskiyou Line progress this blog post and celebrate my 60th birthday with a ride behind an 1:8 scale live steamer on a perfect day!

My birthday is today (May 18) but we celebrated it and my youngest grandson's birthday (May 1) yesterday, Sunday, May 17th. Went to the live steamer park in Mollala, OR, Shady Dell, and spent the afternoon there in perfect sunny 70s weather!
