Digitrax booster phase convention

I am busy getting my layout ready for the upcoming NMRA convention here in Portland and just connected up a new power district. The existing one has an older Zephyr, which I will retain as the layout's command station, and the new district has a  DB 150 booster that I just got from "The DCC Shop"  ( my go to source for DCC and track because of low price and outstanding service).

Goodbye For the Summer

Well school is ending in a week and after that I will not post regularly. Whenever I can I will though. Next year I will also continue the school blog. I am super excited for it and want to thank everyone once again.

Until next summer Trainmaster247 is out!

Siskiyou Line progress #3

It's been a while since my last blog post on my Siskiyou Line layout and there's lots of progress to report. It will take several blog posts to cover it all, so let's start with where we left off last time: my realization that I had failed to plan for adding signals.

If you recall, this all started with my bridge scene and asking myself where the signals should go - and then a lot of benchwork modifications that followed.

Hello World!

Hello MRH community!

After a bit of hesitation, I decided to start a blog on this awesome site. For those of you who managed to catch my pictures of a futuristic locomotive or two in the weekly photo fun thread, yes I will be posting build logs here. I also have a few other projects I would like to share with you fine folks, but before then, I suppose a short introduction is in order.

Question about a lantern globe

I picked this up at a junk shop for $12, as it was an 'unusual' item. Turns out jut like I suspected it's rather rare, and to make things even cooler it's pre-1900! The closest match I could find to my globe online is a CT Ham No. 8 globe, identical, except mine has no markings what so ever. The bubble/magnify lens is for magnifying light. If anyone knows more about my globe, or knows if these were ever implemented into inspector's lanterns, please let me know.

SP branchline

This is a photo of my SP California branchline.  It is a freelance layout designed by my friend, "Mountaingoat" Greg Baker.   He designed it in 2001 and I have been working on it twelve years.   It has a fifty foot mainline in a 12'x14' room.

and a 3.1% grade.   It is "sort of" done for now.

The locos are Genesis GP9's.

Beacon light question

hey guys, I was wondering the best light/product to use for installing a warning light beacon on a couple southern pacific models I have.   I've seen The Details West beacon, but was wondering if that comes with the actually light or is it just a non working decoy?  Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you
