Closing out 2017 with one last word

You know while making this video I began to really appreciate what it does. When laying out all the projects I really do feel a sense of accomplishment. 2018 will definitely bring new projects and possibly some products.

2018 HAPPY to start a NEW layout this YEAR

Happy New Year to all. Back in 2017 I was contemplating a large garage with loft for a big layout. After seeing the quote for just the bare bones garage and the adding in all the insulation electrical heating etc, I decided to not go that route. Instead I decided to make a smaller layout in the basement.

Last photos for 2017

Some photos taken around the CY&P Riverdale sub layout this year are presented here.

Along the SOFCO siding we see an older Kadee Boston and Maine late 50s scheme PS-1 boxcar.  A couple of truck drivers are talking it up down the way.

Happy New Year. Some more figures.

Hi all.

The second half of this year has been a bit slow model train wise. I did manage to paint a few figures but not much else.

Here's hoping 2018 is a better year.

Cheers.

Neil.

Working Lift-Span Bridge

This is my first blog and I am hoping it will work like a Work in Progress (WIP) type journal.

First of all this WIP has nothing to do (directly) with railway or trains surprise. But it could be. That is, the working lift-span bridge could be easily used in a model railway layout. The scale is 1/72 which is not a model railway scale-gauge at all, but the 1/76 is close enough (OO scale).

3D Printed Building Interiors

I've always wanted my buildings to have interiors; it adds tremendously to the realism. I've had good success using a personal 3D printer for adding interiors. One building that has been long overdue for an interior is a Lancaster Farmhouse from Walthers. It's a great representation of rural America, and I wanted to make an interior that shows off its character. I've spent the last six hours or so making models and texturing the first floor. If someone likes the progress I've made so far, I can upload this to a website like Thingiverse.

ALPINE RAILROAD IN NJ-EVOLUTION IN PICS PART VI

Since my last post I had glued hydrocal rock castings to the mountains on the newer section and colored them after having glued the tunnel portals and retaining walls in place. The next set of photos shows the progress.

This is the newest section I mentioned in a previous post with the mountains and portals in place.

ALPINE RAILROAD IN NJ-EVOLUTION IN PICS PART V

Now that I have gone over most of the build for my layout up to present day (I will take pics of the newest table with the mountains and rock faces in place and post them soon), I thought I would show some of the details I have been working on like tunnel portals, bridges and structures. Since I didn't take any before pics of the portals or bridges before I painted/weathered them, I found pics online of what they look like out of the box.
