Introducing myself

Hi everybody,

For a long time I've stayed on the side and tried to learn from your experience. I'll try now to share my progress as well and document also for myself what I'm doing.

What I have to start with is a big thank you to MRH, it's a fantastic resource! Reading back all the magazines was a great way to jump start the hobby. And seeing all your projects made me want to do something like this as well. But that sets the bar very high for a newbie :)

Bangor & Aroostook F3

Sorry to soil the day of any strictly realistic modelers, who might feel this doesn’t belong here, but I just finished work on a fun project, and I thought this might be a fun place to share it.

It's a balmy day and it is ruining my model railroad plans

It's very warm here in Canterbury, NB today. Reached a high of 15 celcius (about 60 F) and the snow is melting. This causes the driveway to be a sheet of ice. The snow is rolling off the roof. I went over to the church (where my layout will be built) and it's flooding due to some drainage issues that were not looked after last year. The water is lapping at the bottom of the basement door. My layout roon has about a 1/2 inch of water. All that matters is up off the floor but this will delay layout building further until it dries out.

Multiple Hobbies

Over the years I have had a variety of hobbies. To list a few: Model Railroading, Dungeons and Dragons, Cross Stitch, Woodworking (crafts), R/C Airplanes and Aquariums.

All have cost me money. Money well spent because I got a great deal of joy out of them. This past weekend I said goodbye to the last of the lot, I'm down to just Model Railroading now. I sold my 55 gallon aquarium that has sat empty for over a year.

Quick Introduction...

Hi All,

Been lurking here at MRH for many years and enjoy reading the site. I'm about to start a few different sections of a new layout at home and thought I'd "blog" the updates here since the feedback and interaction is part of what makes it fun. But first I figured I'd do a quick intro of where I came from and where I (think) I'm going. :)

The future of FineScale Miniatures detail parts.

While I tried to get this video distributed through better means. It didn't make it anywhere.
If I wait any longer the video will lose relevance.

Doodle Time

The walls are all painted, part of my bench work is now in so it is doodle time.

I have tried CAD design for my layouts in the past, but I enjoy doodling ideas.

i have modified that technique by using my template and further modified the process by doodling on plexiglass over top of the scaled drawing.

The plexiglass technique I got from my wife who Doodles on quilts as she designs quilting patterns.

But enough about quilts.

Here are a couple of photos of some doodling.
