Modeling general discussion

Allagash - Sunset at Madrid Engine Terminal

Sometimes, Mother Nature throws us a little surprise!

I've got a small basement window in the boiler room and at this time of year, the late afternoon sun comes right through that window at an extremely low angle and casts a glow over the yard at Madrid. This happens each afternoon, but only for a total of maybe 5 or 6 minutes and the light is literally changing by the second. I've captured a bunch of different images and thought I'd share a couple that I captured today.

Neat / Free Scale Conversion Chart

I was frustrated by the lack of a "comprehensive" scale conversion chart for modeling, so I decided to build one myself.

http://www.timbratcher.com/model_scale_reference_1.aspx?XScale=87

I think it's pretty neat, because it shows fractions (to a 64th), decimals, millimeters, and "scale" inches (i.e., the inches in the scale you've selected or entered).  You can also enter your own scale, if you're modeling something off the beaten track.

Phishing Fraud ALERT Springfield Show Accommodations

URGENT! Someone is calling, saying they are from Comfort Inns and they are having computer problems with the reservation system for the 26 the and 27th. To keep your reservation they need you to give them your credit card number for verification. HANG UP!

Follow the Amhurst Sponsor logo go to Accommodations get the hotel number and call them. They are aware of the phishing. They will give you the police number to report the call. They will not ask for your CC number. If you gave out CC number call your card provider.

Tsunami 2 followers?

Hi All

I had a chance to play round with a Loksound Full Throttle loco and while I was quite impressed with it I went away thinking that this type of decoder is good for those shunting type of layouts and also point to point layouts.

Where it falls away compared to the Tsunami 2 is if one has a round and round layout.  I like the T2 better in this case because of the auto-notching feature.  Whereas with the Loksound FT, I had to keep pressing Drive Hold off and on and change the speed using the throttle which I found frustrating.

Corpus Christi area model railroads

We are snowbirding in the Corpus Christi, Rockport, Aransas Pass area and am looking for any club or private layouts to tour or attend operating sessions. Anyone here have any ideas or know someone who may be able to help? Thanks in advance for any input anyone may have.

Building a Board Game

Greetings everyone,

I am a brand new participant, so forgive me if I'm asking any redundant questions.

Allow me to introduce myself: I am an illustrator and cartoonist, and I am interested in creating a new railroad board game. I'd want something fairly inexpensive to produce, but "graphically rich" in the sense of being far less abstract than, say, A Ticket to Ride, or other existing rail games out there.

SP Fuel cars at Dunsmuir

Hey SP gurus, what type of tankers did the SP use for fuel cars often seen at Dunsmuir?

Thanks

Shenware Software (MiTrains and Waybills)

Hi everyone.  I recently perused the Trainmaster TV video on Ops using car cards and waybills and placed an order for Shenware Software's MiTrains and Waybills.  I have not heard anything from them and was wondering if anyone else has placed an order with these folks.  Thanks
