What's on your workbench? June 2019
We had lots of nice work shared in May. Let's keep rolling our projects along! Share some of your most recent projects and your progress! It's always fun to see what is on your workbench.

Thinning acrylic paint
I am doing a NYC bay window caboose. I have an extra undecorated caboose by Athearn. I have bought a bottle of DecoArt Americana acrylic paint. What would be best to use as a thinner. I have heard several different ideas.

East coast train shows comparable to Timonium?
Over the last year I've attended the TImonium show a few times. Overall, I think it's pretty decent with a good mix of new, new old stock, some brass, clinics, etc. I may not be able to make it this October. For those of you that have attended Timonium, what shows do you consider to be comparable?
In particular, I am interested in shows that are about 3 hours driving centered on Washington, D.C., but for the sake of this thread, it might be nice to hear of any comparisons others might be interested in.
Tariffs on Chinese goods—not going to dodge the bullet this time?
I happened to see a link to the latest proposed tariffs on Chinese goods and thought I’d see if we got caught in the net this time. This is what I found:
Not looking so good right now, but time will tell, I suppose.

Protecting sections from damage by Movers?
As just posted in my NNE Scenic build blog thread, I have dismantled the sections of the NNE Scenic 2 in preparation for moving back to NH. I had contemplated moving the railroad sections myself, but after discovering it would cost over $700 to rent a truck one way for it, I am opting to include it in movement of my household goods by movers.

CAD designed coupler boxes
Hi all, I've designed a coupler box to fit the Sergent couplers.
These are made especially to fit the HOn3 Sharon-couplers.
But they will work with the ordinary HO couplers as well.

The Great 3D Printed Reading T-1 4-8-4 Challenge
It’s downright amazing what you can find if you look hard enough. There is someone out there who has the basic printings, courtesy of Shapeways, to make an HO scale Reading T-1 4-8-4 if you’re so inclined. There’s even a gearbox cover printing available, although you’ll have to supply your own gears, not to mention motor, wheels, rods, valve gear, etc. All this for the grand total of $567.22 without shipping. My recommendation for drivers is Greenway.

CorelDraw Home and Student 2018 - Good enough?
In looking for an older copy of CorelDraw to produce the artwork for some custom decals, it appears that only some sketchy eBay or Amazon used copies are available. Some of the reviews on these had very bad experiences so I don’t think I want to attempt that route.
Question for those familiar with CorelDraw, will the Home and Student editions 2018 or 2019 have enough features for use in Model Railroading?
Feasible to model this hopper?
I'm trying to identify this type of hopper.
Does anyone know if this is available in RTR?
Or make an existing similar model into this by means of kitbashing?
