Nothing is ever easy (hand laid track and turnout controllers)

One thing I've discovered building my layout is that learning new skills is never easy.

McKean rolling stock

well i finally got to build up some older mc keen rolling stock i have, (like six kits) well parts are missing, like weight, frames, etc.

but one i have almost completed, took the weight from another kit,  but the "peg" that is the center for the couplers is to big in dia for the little brass plate for the kd number 5 couplers.

Q:  anyway to make this smaller in dia?

or just remove the whole built in pocket and replace with a kd coupler box?

changing the length of a athern loco frame

well i am looking at re powering a set of brass E units, (the A unit is/was powered, bad old open frame motor, the B unit is non powered) using a couple of athern sd frames and running gear. but the athern frames are a bit short, (not even a 1/4 inch) is there a good way to add in a bit of length with out just () up the frames. as would like them to hold together, no flex, etc. need only slight mods, like a bit of narrowing the fuel tanks,(body side step ladder fit here)  removing a bulge on the frame along one of the trucks. (for a flat body fit).

ANGC 2019

I don't seem to have mentioned this years' Australian Narrow Gauge Convention, so here it is:

Some choice picks:

Cleaning an airbrush filter

I have been using a wire mesh filter for some time on my airbrush. I use acrylic paints for my trains. Even though I try to clean the filter after each use it has gradually clogged up. I have soaked it in airbrush cleaner for acrylics but it is still difficult to get rid of the gummy residue. What is the best way to clean the filter or do I need to replace it?

Layout accessories via 3D printing

I'm in the process of installing some operator comfort features to the layout like armrests and beverage holders. I found a neat holder online and a friend printed several for me.
