My Layout - Introduction

Hello Everybody,

I am a subscriber to Trainmasters.tv and have been reading MRH for some time.

I am based in England and currently building a small exhibition layout based on colliery railway operations.

It is named after a prominent mined coal seam in the area modelled, which is Cumbria. The layout is called 'Six Quarters'

Here are some photos of the progress so far

Help wanted - looking for a post with a photo of cardboard scenery

Not very long ago,  a couple of weeks or so, someone posted an interesting photo from his layout showing a tight cardboard web instead of the usual mesh for making the basic form for scenery.
It looks more like some cut foamboard to scenery contours and glue them side by side.
I have searched through many posts from the last weeks, but not been able to find this photo.

Can anyone remember this and point me to the right link?
Even better if the builder can come forward and tell us more about his technic.

Industries served by more then one railroad.

I have two industries on the layout I am building that were served by two of the 4 railroads that ran through Centralia, IL. The Hollywood Brands Candy Company and the Bell and Zoller Coal Mine.   My question is; Was there coordination between the two railroads as to what time of day those industries were serviced?

Scale Craft Engineering

Good morning,
Does anyone have any photos of Scale Craft Engineering HO scale models built up? These are wooden craftsman kits of semi modern rail cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Shane

Rail cars go where?

I have n-scale coal cars that will leave the mine but go where?  What are some industries that would accept coal car for their operations.  Where could I see examples that I could model?  Also what to do with logs from the mill?

Fail to plan / plan to fail! - Salvage yard problem

Well, I've sort of painted myself in a corner on my salvage yard in that I don't have enough space for trucks to enter to drop off salvage.  Here's the way the yard looks at present:

Steam sound

There has been a great deal of talk about the recent sound releases and upgrades, particularly Loksound and Econami and Tsunami 2, but it seems to all focus on diesels. This is not meant to be a steam or diesel preference debate, I have too many of both. LOL  It is to get the opinions of what steam sounds you have and and like. I have mostly Tsunami, one Econami but a few BLI. I recently had an old PFM CV Texas  tuned up and a WOW sound  decoder installed and I love it.
