What's with the big secret?
Recently, I was interested in trying my hand at repainting an ALCO C420 for a local short-line in Northwest Arkansas we will call the "A&?" to protect the innocent.

Wireless throttles for DCC++
I'm a big fan of DIY electronics and Dave Bodnar has posted here about the DCC++ project. I wish there was more buzz about it so I am going to post what I found this morning.
Dave has developed hand held throttles for DCC++ and his latest is a wireless throttle with both potentiometer and encoder controllers. It's all detailed on his website which you can gather from this video he has posted.

Making a headlight lens
I have this headlight casting:
I have drilled from the bottom for wires to go to an SMD LED. I want to encase the LED in something that will prevent shorting (it's a brass casting) and also to form a headlight lens. I have experimented with a number of clear adhesives and all have shrunk up on me, useless for a headlight lens. I am seeking any suggestions on what I can use to form the headlight lens.

TEMS the Breaks.
It’s been a good ten months since I’ve done anything model railroad related. My daughter was born in September and my boy just turned two in March. Needless to say, domestic bliss has pushed everything else to the back burner. But now things are normalizing, sleep is becoming more and more consistent, and I’m starting to shake off the rust that my hobby life has accumulated.
S-CAB: Radio Control for Model Railroads
I am considering model railroading as a 'retirement' hobby. Looking on-line I have seen a radio control and battery power system (S-CAB) for model railroading. Combines a RC receiver, DDC decoder and battery power unit in one package in a locomotive.Seems to eliminate the need to power the tracks and add DCC wiring. Has anyone looked at this and tried it? Does it work?

"Cátia's Branchline" Benchwork... doubts!
Hi all.
I have come to a halt on my layout, because I am full of doubts, and I hope that you could help me clear my mind.
I made the benchwork for my around the walls shelf layout using 1 x 2 (sort of) lumber, and placed a nice subroadbed made out of plywood. But I am having second thoughts about this.

Electromotive F7 analog to digital conversion
Hi! Converted my analog Electromotive F7 engine to digital with sound and made a short video documenting the process.

Concrete "test" panel
I am working on a series of concrete and block retaining walls for a city section where the New Haven RR went though the town of Waterbury, CT. Shown in the picture is a small "test" panel of what the concrete retaining wall will look like when complete. Please let me know how I can improve it before I start on all of the actual concrete retaining wall panels. I say panels because they are made in sections with .040 styrene and are not mounted to the layout yet. I wanted to paint and weather them at the workbench for better control of the detailing.

Program Boosters
I am looking at adding a DCC Specialties PowerPax Programming Booster to my MRC Prodigy Advance system. I am looking for feed back from anyone who is using this booster. I have a mix of sound decoders but most are soundtrax.

How to Model Paths
This week's video is the start of a small series on paths and roads:
Do let me know any comments that you have.
