G&D Gorre engine shed

During my holiday in the Harz Mountains I started with building an engine shed based on John Allens

Gorre engine shed. The walls are made fromm 1mm thick balsa wood and the roof shingles are made from

thin balsawood stripes.

Unspinning My Wheels

An Introduction:

Between indecision, personal and family member's health problems, and assorted issues that led to my family moving from New York City (our life-long home) to rural Jefferson County Missouri (can you say culture shock?), I feel like I've been spinning my wheels since getting back into the hobby in 2010.

Train Ride on the Harzer Schmallspurbahn in eastern Germany

I spent the last two weeks on holiday in the northern Harz Mountains in eastern Germany.

Due to severe cold I suffered in the first week I couldn't spent as much time as planned on

riding trains on the Harzer Schmallspurbahnen (Harz Narrow Gauge Railway"

But last thursday I was able to ride on the Selketalbahn from Stiege (with turning loop) to Eisfelder Talmühle

(where the Selketalbahn joins the Harz Querbahn from Nordhausen to Wernigerode"

My first attempt at N Scale anything.

Hello guys and gals. This is my first attempt at scenery. It still needs some touchups of course but I'd love to hear any feedback, whether it be negative or positive. I wasn'twasn't able to spread the plaster cloth appropriately but I think the rest looks decent. The piece is only a little over 2 feet long and 8 inches wide. I had an absolute blast creating it! Thank you for any feedback.

Jun 2016-2 - Bob Case’s Baltimore & Ohio West End

Bob Case decided that he wanted to recapture the feeling of being in West Virginia in the spring of 1948 whenever he walked into his basement.  He spent many days on the Baltimore & Ohio’s West End between Cumberland, Maryland and Grafton, West Virginia to gather photos and data to build his dream layout.

Mark II Work Bench Complete - Time to start Modeling

I have been without a permanent work bench for about three years now. A couple of trips to the land of Ikea and some persistence, here is what I have come up with. Finally completed this afternoon. Now to unpack the tools and start building some models. Never though I would miss the smell of Tenax 7R.

HOG Inspired

Inspired by the heart of Georgia, I've come up with this. Would appreciate comments and suggestions.

Which track is East and which track is West?

I know how British Railways do it but I don't know about US Roads. We are in New Haven and B&M territory here.

In the diagram below showing a two track main line, which is the East direction road? The Upper or the Lower?

To be clear, travelling to Boston, would it be upper or lower?

Era

I don't know an AC4400 from an SD70... So the modern era is out for me. I like steam but to accurately portray steam in Canada is an expensive and or time consuming endeavor. The 50s are nice but you can't run an SD40-2. Same with the 60s. So I am thinking early 70s. Boxcars ruled the rails. From my brief research I can run modern boxcars as new to the railroad, and 40 footers with roofwalks and high brake wheels as old and ready to be retired. My Canadian Pacific had a mix of my three favorite schemes; block lettering, script lettering and PacMan.
