searching for a new location
This topic is where I am seeking a new setting location for my new layout. I want only one town in a hilly setting where the NYC and PRR railroads interchanged. The town needs to be relatively small -- probably fewer than 5,000 population. I want both coal train operation and general freight to be featured with several local on-line customers. The setting will be 1927. The photo below is the type of setting that I am looking for.
I ask for your ideas and suggestions along your comments.

Great Model Railway Challenge 2019
The second series of UK Channel 5's Great Model Railway Challenge is currently being filmed, and should probably be broadcast in September/October again. There will be 8 episodes instead of 6 last year, and each episode might be a bit longer than last year.
Some of us 'Basingstoke Bodgers' attended the judging of a heat last week as part of the studio audience:
Happy Fathers Day
For all the dads out there and those remembering your father today, I hope yours is as chill as mine has been. As much as I love and miss my kids, I love the time to myself. Besides a “virtual” bicycle ride (Zwift) and making a short little film of my staging area, I have absolutely no plans, goals, or obligations today. Sweet!
What did everyone else do?

Experience with the RPM Chicago Conference (communication)?
I've been looking into going to and maybe giving my youth in the hobby clinic at the RPM conference in chicago but so far sending one email a month or two ago through their contact form and again responding to their recent e-blast which specifically said respond here if your interested in doing a clinic I have had no response does anyone here have any experience with this group?

New book - Introduction to Layout Command Control: Basic Concepts and Practical Examples of LCC for Model Railroads
On a subject dear to me, since I'm full integrating LCC into my layout, a first book about Layout Command Control (LCC) has been published, and is available in paperback and Kindle editions from Amazon.
The book was authored by Dana Zimmerli, and guides a reader through first steps of setting up, configuring and operating various LCC nodes.
I believe Dana might make a PDF version available at some point, but don't quote me on that, as I'm not affiliated with the author.

Sliding into Prototype Modeling
I have found myself slowly and inexorably drifting into prototype modeling. Long ago, I decided to model my locomotives with prototype fidelity, and make sure my other rolling stock was generally correct. But I hadn't extended this to the layout itself until recently.
Modeling Trees
Good morning everyone. I have recently been experimenting with different ways to make trees.
My goal is for them to look realistic and be economical. I wanted to share my first results/experiments and ask for some feedback.
I've been examining 1:1 trees and honestly they look really ugly - nothing at like the prefect symmetric pictures you have in your minds eye. But bunch them together, and they start to look like a forest. With that in mind, I'm pretty happy with my results.
Seattle Viaduct - 3D Print
My layout includes a bit of downtown Seattle. As such, I just HAVE to HAVE the Viaduct. Found this great 3D file on Thingiverse, scaled it for 3 lanes, and actually got it to print on my Printrbot Play. I’ve probably got about 30 of these to print.

Main Track Authority Overview
Several people and websites have put out some operations overviews lately. I thought I would take a shot at a main track authority overview, so here's something I whipped up today. Its several pages on my website. As I get time I will add some pictures and diagrams.
