Western Pacific Large Oil Tenders
Anyone know the best way to go about kitbashing or building one of the large 4,000 gallon oil tenders used by the Western Pacific’s last order of 2-8-2 Mikados? Any pointers in either N or HO would be very valuable. Thanks!
What material should I use for a city street ?
In the past I have used cork cut from rolls for my streets. After checking five places today I have discovered cork sold by the foot is a thing of the past. Large quantities still available on Amazon. I was thinking, maybe Foamcore Board as a substitute but was wondering how this would hold up after painting on a street with lane stripes etc. Any other ideas for a raised surface suitable for a road ? What are you using ?

52 | Several Updates to Share | DT602D Throttle Update, GG1 Blackjack Repair, Three Decoder Installs
In today’s episode, I have several different items to share. I updated my Digitrax DT602D Throttle to the latest firmware. Then I finished the repairs to my Kato GG1 Blackjack. And finally, I installed three decoders, but only two of the installations were successful.

MG Chemicals Alcohol Wipes for cleanup
In Joe's publication, "MRH-Acrylic-painting-guide-post-Floquil", he mentioned that he used MG Chemicals Alcohol wipes for cleaning paint bottle tops and caps among other things. With the pandemic, these disappeared and have not re-appeared.
Does anyone found a good substitute? I've spent quite a bit of time looking for something similar, but have not found anything.
Thanks,
Greg
Intimidated by Walthers American Crane
Hi,
I found a decent deal on the old Walthers American crane, the one without the rigging assembled. Just curious, how difficult are these to assemble? I've heard some horror stories and sometimes see partially assembled ones on ebay. I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into before I spend about $30.

Tooling on Walthers Bay Window Caboose
Good evening,
Just curious, does anybody know if Walthers has changed the tooling on their bay window caboose from when it was a kit to its now pre-assembled state? I'd like to use these
https://circusdecals.ecwid.com/Chicago-&-Northwestern-CNW-11186-Steel-Ba...
that were designed for the latest Walthers cabooses but with this kit:

Thanks for your help!

Middle School Model Railroad: a kink
I noticed an ugly curve in my trackwork the other day and made a mental note to improve it at some point. I was surprised that I would have put it in that way, but my memory isn’t very good and perhaps I was rushing it.
Then yesterday I was looking for a photo to illustrate student activity on the model railroad and happened across one that I took last year, indicating that the track originally had a more reasonable curve that had apparently moved considerably.
Fine mist scenic cement sprayer?
I tried to search for this, but I think the search bar on this site goes to Google.
Anyway I have been watching the Luke Tower videos and I like the idea of a finer mist sprayer for scenic cement. I have tried watering it down before, but it wasn't working too well.
Is there a special type of sprayer you need for scenic cement? Or if not, what is a combination to water down Woodland Scenics? I also have the woodlands scenics sprayer, but is spits out the cement and blobs it on the layout.
Any suggestions for me?
