Unabashed Summer Rerun: Washington Northern's Grandpa Sam's Place

Yes, it's a rerun - and the reason that I'm posting it (and other reruns) is that there are constantly new members & guests to this excellent site and many may have not seen this before. This post is about a structure that I made for my good friend Kevin Klettke for his awesome Washington Northern layout - http://wnrr.net.

Yes It's NOT a MODEL!

I just ran across this topic "Yes it's NOT a MODEL". Back in 1992 I took this photo of a Detroit Edison coal train on the Monongahela railroad. I have always thought this shot would be a candidate for this topic.

making pcb's

OK. I have a PCB layout for a DC throttle I want to build. I would need at least two maybe three to have one as a back up. The problem I am having is I model trains and don't really want the problems of trying to learn the software to convert a PCB layout to a file set that can be manufactured nor do I feel confident enough to try making my own PCB. Is there anyone on here that has experience at doing this that would be willing to help. I want to do this but really don't need to pick up ANOTHER hobby.

F.P. Nielson & Sons Flour Mill - Next Build

F.P. Nielson & Sons Flour Mill in Mesa, Arizona looks like it will be my next project.

San Pablo Valley RR #51 (Backdating a Spectrum 4-4-0)

A new engine is close to joining the SPV roster - #51, the line's only standard gauge power.

#51 started as a Bachmann Spectrum 4-4-0 (the "Modern Baldwin" version).  Out of the box, she looked like this:

Kapton Tape

I just wondered if there was any substitute for Kapton tape used to install drop-in decoders? I'm sure there must be a valid reason for needing to use this type of tape. Just wondering.

MDC Shay Kit Build - Powered by a Modified NWSL Stanton Drive -

I have been working on several Keystone Shay Kits, looking for alternative ways to power this static model using as few or none of the parts from the old and long out of production NWSL Power conversion kits. (More on this at a later date)
