Stripping and repainting...

Hi all,

I have managed to get a Bachmann S-4 in SP tiger stripes from a guy here in the UK. My goal is to repaint it in scarlet and grey to make it fit my era.

Apart from disassembling the engine, how do I continue?
I have learned to work with decals, just need to get them.

How do I strip the original paint off? Seen that this is N scale and a rather small switcher, is hand painting after masking off doable?

Live steam operation meet

My live steam club, Train Mountain is known for lots of ground breaking items.  For the current Operation Meet, they have added another.  A live view dispatch board.  Using the link below, watch tomorrow during west coast daylight hours (9-ish to 5-ish).  There are different colors for freight, passenger etc,.  The portion of Train Mountain that is displayed is but a small portion of the 2200 acre park, but it will show the number of trains running during the meet.  It will only be live tomorrow, Saturday the 28th but should be fun in any event.  Ru

Painting PC ties

I have made a few Fast Tracks turnouts. I will be staining my wooden ties . The color of the ties used is a grey/brown tie & bridge stain from micromark. Now those shiny wonder PC ties need to painted. Do they take paint and if so as I am not doing a airbrush application, what have you kind fellows used?
Any help certainly appreciated.
Thanks. Transfer.

Proposed 1:1 scratchbuilt steam engine

A proposal to build a Pennsy T1 4-4-4-4 steam engine is in the process of gathering donations to build the 5550 T1.

This would be the second engine built from scratch that I know of.

An unexpected Homage

I learned a cool thing the other night.

For the Prof re: logging

Hope this doesn't put you on the spot, Prof K. -- I'm curious as to the comparisons and contrasts between Australian bush logging and Pacific Coast logging. I thought that maybe the logging fans here, and that includes me, could learn a thing or two. Some of the equipment is similar, but I'm sure the challenges and lexicon are not.
