Workbench Weekend
It's a "workbench" in function only, yeah. But over one weekend earlier this winter, I was able to set up a permanent, organized workspace that was not a) my computer desk or b) the floor, since one of these options was detrimental to my actual job-related productivity, and the other was detrimental to my increasingly-decrepit body (being a hockey goalie does not make you feel younger, believe me).
Prototypical horn signals on a short line?
I have tried searching on this topic within MRH, but haven't found an informative answer, so would appreciate some help.
On a shortline, when switching out industries, would the horn be used when moving off (forwards or reverse)? Or is everything done by radio between the engineer and the man on the ground throwing the switches?
Thanks
John
Can you see it ?
It's right there at the end of the building. A brand new layout from scratch.
It has been four years since the last post and now I am moving forward with the dream!
As this moves along, I plan, that is the key word, plan, to tell the story of the Sun Valley RR. In all of it's gory details, fails, trips, slips and falls. Including the cost. All of them.
Pantograph physics
One of my recent purchases in the hobby were some old Bachmann Amtrak equipment (Two Metroliners of different generations and two phase I Amfleets), and since I do plan on running the cars as a set, I wanted to get new pantographs (from the modern E60CH since it has the twin pantographs. Not prototypical for what its going on but im happy with my choices) and it put a question in my head. Do pantographs have a “correct” setup for running?
Short versus long class tracks
Hi all,
I'm considering a renovation for my classification yard, and I haven't seen much coverage in the yard design literature I know of about the following question. I'm curious what you all think:
For a classification yard on a fairly large model railroad, would you rather have a smallish number (say 5) full train-length class tracks, or double as many (say 10) class tracks which are half a train length?

Class Yard Clinic
I recently completed the trackage Birdsboro Yard, so I wanted to test it to make sure that I could switch trains in in it. I created a video explaining how I classify cars at Birdsboro Yard. Hopefully it has some info that might be helpful to others.
Controller modification on a budget
(This is my first post and wasn't sure if this is the correct forum)
New Ah-Hah Moment video on Universal Modeling Chart ...
I just now made a video and posted it on TMTV about the MRH Universal Modeling Sizes chart and how to use it:
I wanted to experiment with Zoom recording and trying to get better video and audio, so I tried a new camera and microphone. Plus with Zoom, it's easy to capture my computer screen while I talk, so that's a plus.
Mantua or Tyco 4-4-0 General
Folks,
I want to buy a Mantua or Tyco 4-4-0 General that is in good, runable condition. If you have one that you would part with or know where I can get one, please let me know.
