Big thank you to the guys at MRH for the show coverage and work they did.

As usual Jeff out did himself with the updates and info sharing via the web that allowed so many of us to vicariously enjoy the show. Now the work Jeff did might have been a bit more visible than some of the others but I think we should likely extend a big thank you to everyone involved with the show and the coverage that was undertaken by MRH.

Re-calibrating my brain for N scale. . .

I've been an HO modeler all of my life and understand and have a good feel for track design (i.e. curve radius, turnout position, etc.).  I am currently a member of the local HO model railroad club and enjoy running my equipment at the club.  However, I still want to build my own layout and do not have too much room at home.  I'm considering N scale.  What I am finding is that all the knowledge I have gained over the past 40 years regarding model railroading and HO scale is quite a challenge to translate to N scale.

Backdrop painting video - hills and sky

Here's a video I produced back in 2011 showing some techniques for painting clouds with an airbrush and producing simple distant hills backdrops.

Cheers,

Charlie

Let's see if this is the one...

Hi all.

I am going to start a layout. I think that is going to be the "one".

I asked for your help to plan a small freight yard, to serve just as staging yard. Well, I was over thinking about it. I opened SCARM and made a buck of trackplans, and all of the looked awful. Then, after reading Mike Confalone Allagash Story Vol1. I decided that should take an approach just like Mike does.

OK time for "What's on your workbench". With the kids off to school and the last summer holiday coming up it'll be time to get back into some serious modeling.

Let's see what you have on the bench for the coming cold season ahead.
