stub end - back in passenger terminal
ive always been drawn to the design of the stub end terminal. im trying to incorporate one into my layout which is in benchwork phase. ive done some search on threads relating to this , but not too many results. is this typically something that people dont model due to the back-in element? is it looked at as disturbing the "flow" of train movement? i was going to do a pull through station with 6 tracks, but i keep going back to the stub end design. im looking at doing a three track mainline, and would have to allow for a 5 car (85') train length.

Quiet track--Ground foam as ballast?
I know the subject of building quiet track has been knocked around a lot over the years but I've never seen any discussion of the feasibility of using ground foam rubber (if you could find the right colors) as ballast. Would this work with a matte medium adhesive to build track with a less rigid (and hopefully quieter) ballast shell? Would some other form of rubber (or any other soft material you can think of) be a better substitute (not sure if the cell structure of foam would be too difficult to glue down even using "wet" adhesive)? Just trying to think of
Herald King Decals
Has anyone purchased decals from Herald King Decals lately?
Are they still in business?
I sent an email to them at heraldkingdecals@q.com which is what they list on their website. The email came back as undeliverable.
I can't try calling during their business hours.
Any help appreciated.
N Scale Locomotive Grille
I am hoping to replicate the large intake grill on these new KiwiRail DL locos - N scale.
Does anyone have an idea where I might find a suitable product?
Thanks

Virtual Model Railroads
Here are some photos of my model Railroadz layouts in Trainz 12. One of them is a small oval while the other is more of a work in progress but NG.
One car, three reporting marks
I take the West Coast Express commuter train from my home in the 'burbs to downtown Vancouver on a daily basis. It offers a chance to catch up on reading, work, sleep but most importantly gives me an opportunity to railfan. Today we arrived at the downtown station with a bunch of grain cars parked on the adjacent yard track. One car in particular caught my eye, CN 385722, a PS4750 grain hopper built in November 1978. It has what looks like 3 sets of reporting marks: The current CNA (Canadian National), prior SR* (unknown); and an earlier KC* (maybe
Multi-Level
Has anyone done a multi level layout where there was no connections between the levels where you might have freight operations on one level and passenger operations on another. Due to my room size I was thinking about doing something like.
What is the usual distance between levels if you have done something like that?
Thanks for any ideas.

JMRI Decoder Pro Setup Mac?
I am looking for help on how to set up the JMRI Decoder Pro Software for a Mac. It is a MacBook Pro running the most recent operating system. I am using the NCE Powercab system and the USB interface. I am looking for help on how to set this up as I am having trouble. I would check the JMRI Yahoo group but can not access it since my school has is blocked.
Thanks,
