1/72 with 1/87?

How terrible would it look to use 1/72 models (In this case vehicles) with the rest of the scene being HO?

Thanks in advance,

CSX at CLT?

Anybody know the history / rationale behind the CSX (?) intermodal yard in the middle of Charlotte NC airport?  Struck me as odd to taxi over a yard lead to the terminal.

First Coast Boxcar

First Coast Boxcar

To All: This 50 foot Athearn boxcar is an unofficial paint scheme I came up with for the First Coat Model Railroad Society, in Jacksonville, Florida, with sixteen members. We are building a two level HO scale layout in a 50 foot deep storage facility. I painted and lettered the car. Herald art work and photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. 3D ... Preview Goes Review

Hi all,

a few weeks ago, in various forums I posted a first glimpse at my latest 3D-prints :)
Then came a rehab, and a vacation - together with one or another surprise ... so it took a little longer until I could take the photos and write down some words.

After testing the first items I found two worth printing, and sharing with other 0-scale narrow gaugers.
So these are available from Shapeways:

Prototype research with glassware

My good friend Tim S. recently came across a few glasses in a Flin Flon thrift shop bearing the logo of my main prototype interest, Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting.

He picked them up and mailed them out to me to add to my bar.  I have a new favourite scotch glass:

Starting Over

I have two 2' x 4' modules with a 2' x 2' lift out section in between them. I've run into a brick wall and I'm thinking of starting over. I'm not happy with the way things have turned out and I'd like to try and do it better. I'm not very far along so it wouldn't take too much time to dismantle. Has anyone else ever gone through this? Do most guys just keep going no matter what? Is there a point when you say to yourself: this isn't working, time to start over. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Finding a Buddy or Starting a Round Robin

Seeing Peter's post in the Paying for Help topic fired up this idea.

Is there enough interest to start this as an ongoing topic that anyone can post in to find a buddy or finding or starting a round robin group? I know for myself I would prefer a small group of around 4 people. The local club has a lot more than that and is just a bit to formal for my tastes.

Tichy Reefer Part 5

This update covers Brake Rigging on the under frame.
First up, Tichy provides a template to cut .010 wire for the brake lines. The wire is provided in the kit.

They have you cut the wire between the two bends in order to fit it through the fish belly frames. Looking at the clearance, you might be able to work it through without cutting. I’ll have to try it on the next kit.

Installing a Bridge

I'm coming up on a first in my layout construction: installation of the first bridge.  I'll be installing a Central Valley 72' plate girder bridge and I've got a few questions about the installation.

Do you normally secure the bridge to the abutments or let it "float" beneath the track (simply sitting on the abutments with the track itself holding it in place).

N Scale and Railpro -- good news!

On Saturday, I sent the folks at RailPro an e-mail asking them to someday produce a locomotive module for N scale.

Not only was I delighted by their fast reply, what they said delighted me too.
