Storage Ideas...

Well our recent visit to the JL&T prompted a realisation that the layout needed to be de-cluttered and cleaned.  By de-cluttered about 3/4 of the rolling stock and locomotives needed to be removed and the top deck needed a really good clean.

Three Steps Forward.....

....aaaand two steps back.

I should really post more than once a year. But: Real Life. And spare time spent working on the layout instead of blabbing about it.

Anyway, an overview of progress to date:

Building a GE 85 ton steeple cab: Now completed

Well both of my 85 ton steeple cabs are now complete.

They are the same yet different.

JL&T gets a visit...

Well folks we have returned from our fabulous 3 week adventure in the USA, we spent the entire time in CA visiting friends in Ramona, and touring the coast up to San Francisco and into the mountains at Mammoth Lakes. It was a awesome trip, with fantastic weather and great times catching up with our friends and seeing the USA and all she has to offer.

Dgitrax sound bug

I have a HO Proto2000 BL2 that I fitted with a Digitrax decoder and soundbug, and loaded the GP10 file from the digitrax site. My problem is that it simply doesn't sound any good so am looking for an alternative sound file but have had no success so does anyone have any suggestions?

Testing individual feeders?

So today I started working on the feeders for my under layout staging.  This is my first time soldering feeders to track, so each set of feeders is more practice.  I drilled holes trackside since it will be hidden staging and so visible wires aren't an issue.  With each feeder I think I get a little bit better at it, though a couple of the feeders I had to do-over.

tru-color paint Phoenix AZ

I recently purchased an assortment of this brand of paint(advertised in Narrow Gauge and Short line Gazette)

Last night I used the clear flat to seal a recently decaled HOn3 box car .It had a reaction to the decal film leaving it "milky" I was very disappointed. I will call the manufacture Monday...but mean while be careful.

A video cab ride on the Central Florida Railroad Modelers "Ridgeline" route

As a member of the Central Florida Railroad Modelers club I have 24/7 access to our wonderful layout.  I wanted to post this video which is about 11 minutes long (but does have an annoying ad at the start) that shows just one of the routes on the layout.  This video and others are posted on our site.  Here's the link to the site:
