Pembroke II: Ties and Ballast

As they say in another hobby, it's time to fish or cut bait. So, this week I put away the test track and went for broke on the south module. I also happily discovered that October is still more than a week away, and I may still accomplish my goal for the month.

Can anyone shed some light on Locomotive Lighting

I love technology and I love the ability to do magical things with DCC such as sound and lighting. However, as someone modelling HO CSX but not being American, I am finding it difficult to get clarity on which lights and which configurations I should be aiming for. Even more confusing is that certain model manufacturers produce locos with non functioning lights that are painted on but not necessarily correct for the model.

Modifying Atlas Turnouts

Has anyone ever tried modifying Atlas turnouts to deepen the frog so wheels don't bounce as much and cars don't roll as much going through them? Wondering how much can be cut away at the bottom of the frog without causing electrical issues.

Suggestions on wire size and brass tube size

I'll be connecting my turnout motors to my turnouts remotely and want to do so using music / piano wire that will be sheathed inside brass tubing. I used to have both the wire and brass tubing; however it's still packed away from our move to Florida and possibly will never be seen again. Can you guys please give me suggestions on wire size that will work and the proper brass tube size to contain it? Thanks!
