Source for great roundhouse interior details
Just came across some roundhouse details in an unsuspected place. At about one hour and twenty minutes into the movie 'In the heat of the night". Some Gulf Mobile and Alabama GMO power and other RR shots throughout the movie.
The chase scene shows some good interior shots of service pits, timber bracing and even a safety sign. These shots are interesting to me as I am scratch building my N Scale roundhouse for the Mooers Junction Railroad.
On a Gatorboard® based insert for my turntable and roundhouse. You know how I love my Gatorboard!

Foam Drum
There has been a fair amount of discussion about how noisy trains are when running on unsupported foam. I've contributed my part, which consists mostly of theory. However, in acoustics, reality and theory are often a loose match, and I really have little experience with the materials we are talking about. So I decided to do some experiments.
As a test bed, I built a simple frame with a piece of 1" foam across the top:
Two new kits available from Clever models
After a lot of waiting we are happy to announce the availability of two new downloadable kits. The "Marine supply warehouse" and "Harvey's hobbies"
Harvey's is an accurate reproduction of a real hobby shop in Harvey IL. Complete with basic interior and Lionel signs. (The original is now vacant but still standing on Halstead st. in Harvey IL)

Dream train?
This morning, I find myself wondering if anyone else has a "dream train" that they think they'd like to model one day, even if it has absolutely nothing to do with anything else they they model. I have two, both of them passenger trains.
Feeding Feeders
I'm setting up a small N guage layout (merely a circle with a spur) to test a few things as I move from my HO layout and start my new N guage one.
I'm using Fleischmann Profi track (pre ballasted). I've drilled small 1.5mm holes through the fake ballast and soldered feeder (droppers) wires to the track.
Question: how do I line up where to drill the holes through the plywood under the track to feed the droppers/feeder wires through the plywood. I would like to hide the wires as far as possible.
Wiring a lift up bridge
Our HO club in Florida is building a module with a lift-up bridge for access. We have a design that we are comfortable will be sturdy enough for our use and yet portable. We would like to have some kind of micro switch designed in so that if someone lifts the bridge, power is killed for a short space on either side of the bridge to prevent accidents.
Do any of you have any experience with these? We are DCC if it matters. Thanks.
Use of Sergent couplers for scale look
Have you tried using the Sergent Engineering type couplers for a more complete look. I am using the tight lock type for the passenger service locos and the end tail cars to give the trains a more scale like look.
