Pembroke II: Progress at End of September

It's September 32nd, by my reckoning. So how am I doing against the Big Hairy Audacious Goal? One month in, and I think I'm about a week behind schedule. For those of you who are no better at math than I am at reading a calendar, that's 25% behind schedule. At this rate, I'll have trains running in February or March, and I'll be ready for VanRail 2015 some time late in 2016.

Control Panels

I've been sketching out my future control panels for the layout.  Despite the layout using DCC controls, I still like having small control panels at busy areas to show the track arrangement, and for the toggles and indicators for the switch motors.

MTH GP 35 update

MTH GP 35 box says DCC ready.  Has anybody taken the shell off one of these guys. I can see the 8 pin socket, but actually I am going to replace the board with a Soundtraxx board. I took off the couplers, but the shell doesn't want to budge. Are there hidden screws, tabs etc.? Their web site doesn't show how to take it apart, just an exploded view. So if you've done this or know how to, some guidance would be appreciated... Joe

CNW Peninsula Div. RR HO scale Part 4

This is the final group of photos. These are of the areas that do not have scenery or all of the structures built. I do have card board foot prints in place to hold the industries spot and give the operators a idea of where and what they will be for our OPS sessions. So here goes.

Looking East across the Watersmeet Engine Terminal at Watersmeet, MI and into Ironwood, MI. A lot of detail work and building construction left to be done in all of the following areas. But progress not to bad for starting with a totally blank canvas basement just 11 years ago.

Atlas n scale code 55 Question

Hi all

Just a question from a beginner: on the Atlas website there is a description for the underfloor turnout control that says "N Scale Code 55 Under Table Swicth Machines includes a double-pole, double-throw relay with actuating mechanism." What does that mean at what does it?

Regards,

Not exactly roadbed - embedded rails (HO)

I plan to model a modern transload terminal that has several tracks embedded in concrete, both on the outside and between the rails.  I'll be using Atlas C-83 flex with "wooden" ties.

I've been trying to figure out what kind of sheet product would be best to model the concrete - fun foam, styrene, or ???  I don't want to mess with plaster or grout.

Any suggestions on material and / or technique?  My main concern is that the pavement be level both inside and outside the rails.

Screen doors

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know when Aluminum screen doors started being used.  My era is 1977, and would  like to include one on a structure I am building but would like to keep it prototypical.  Also does one know of any suppliers of one in HO scale.

Thanks

Ryan M
