what size rail would a modern short line that also hauls 16-20 carloads of gravel/sand a day plus other freight with GP38's and the like use?

The Diamond River Valley Railroad- Lawrenceville, GA
The is another of the great model railroads of the Dixie Rails group. Great operations and layout design. Built switches in place buy printing Fast Track diagrams and gluing them into place and building on top of them.

THE SAINT LOUIS GATEWAY N GAUGE RAILROAD
This N Gauge Layout is part of Dixie Rails in the Atlanta GA area. This is the best running N gauge layout I have ever operated on. It is DCC and not once the whole night that we ran 50 trains did we have one problem due to track of electrical connections. The owner John Wilson has come up with a system of moving blocks of cars with markers on top that are easy to read for all of us who do not see numbers on N scale cars well.

NORFOLK & WESTERN RR, NORCROSS, GA.
This Model RR is part of a group in the Atlanta area called Dixie Rails. This video was taken during a operations event attended by 50 operators from around the country. This RR will be part of the NMRA national convention in Atlanta July 2013. I will post video of three more outstanding layouts.

Helpful Hints for Getting Started Building your first Model Railroad
Hello Everybody My name is Dan Kelley AKA: Rio Grande Dan here on the MRH forums.
I'm a member of the MRH Spam Police and spend 40 to 60 hrs a week reading through the many Posts and Blogs here on the MRH forums. While reading I keep seeing one problem that many new Model Railroaders are having and that is "WHERE & HOW DO I START?"
City of Industry Layout
CITY OF INDUSTRY LAYOUT Project 02-12
Here is my second project, and it is a departure from my previous plan to begin design on the MP/TP operations in New Orleans, namely the Race St. Yard, and Annunciation St. Passenger Terminal, with some of the surrounding industry which the railroad served, i am still in the very rough planning stage for it still gathering information and maps and photographs of the area for the time period during the war and just afterward, pre-NOUPT era.
Rerailer
I recently read somewhere about putting rerailers at both ends of hidden staging yard tracks. I really like that idea from a reliability standpoint, but my staging tracks are already installed, and would prefer not ripping them up to add rerailers if I don't need to. So here's the question - has anyone ever made ther own rerailers to add to track that's already installed? I'm using atlas code 83 flex track and am wondering if rails can be added, maybe similar to guard rails on a bridge section? Would that have the same effect as a purchased rerailer or not?
