Hand laid curved turnouts
I have a fast tracks jig for #8 and #10 switches with the point forms etc. I'd like to hand lay s couple curved #8s and #10s. Will the jig for the frog work for this once the rails are curved or will the geometry be thrown off by bending the rails?
Electromagnets on the Sunset Valley
I noticed that Bruce Chubb's layout uses numerous Kadee electromagnet uncouplers. I was wondering how Bruce powers them - e.g an AC or DC power supply with push buttons on local control panels, or using a timer circuit so that the electromagnets are not burned out because a button was pressed for too long a time. On one layout I had (only about 13' x 18') I used a common AC power supply for all push buttons/electromagnets, but when a button was pressed an annoying buzzer sounded, reminding the operator that the electromagnet was still energized.
Thanx,
La Grange gets some track & Tortilla Flats gets surveyed
GS&M crews march on...
After the 1st set of track goes into place a Trio of C-630 pulls a tank train from staging up and out of the main Helix.
You can see how the main works it way out of the Helix and into La Grange. The Alcos are on what will become the A/D tracks for La Grange.

N scale c55 Dual Diamonds
This is a custom set of dual N scale diamond crossings. I'm close to finishing this project and sending the diamonds to their eventual owner in California, Clif Linton. On Clif's layout, the diamonds are for the crossing of the single tracked B&OCT and the double tracked BRC on his Chicago themed '70's layout.
The ties are all PCB ties, gapped and cut to length. They are placed over a printout from 3rd Plan It on some clear tack film. The code 55 ME rails have been cut and soldered to the PCB ties.

Hole Size for Tortoise Switch Machine Wire
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but a search didn't turn up an answer for me.
La Grange & The Helix on the GS&M
Using a section of oak to test bend the plywood that will lead out of the main Helix and into La Grange. You can see Gila Grains from this angle.
Photo of the Helix exit. You can see I have not fully finished the front face of the bench work yet at the end of the 1x6. Gila Springs in on the back wall to the right.

1999 Eastern Div Grande Pacific. HO Modular Layout
This 8 X 36 ft layout made appearance at NMRA national in 2000. I donated it to The Greater Baton Rouge Model RR Club. It now has a perment home and new operators.

Question for Joe F.
Using your "poor-man's jig" using CV turnouts, I ran into a problem, and it's due to laziness on my part. I broke one of my PC throwbars so that I don't really have enough to attach a wire for my Wolfgang-method operable switchstand.
Track and roadbed
I am new to this and I am going to build an old west style layout and using HO scale.
What is the best track to use for this?
What is the best roadbed to use?
