Misc Structures on the 8th Sub

I've been working on some structures so I can get a better handle on the composition of Junction City's downtown.  Before finalizing locations of streets, parking lots and so on I wanted to make some progress on a few things.  None of this stuff is really "done" yet, as I still need to do more weathering, window glass, light baffles to block views through building interiors, and various other items.

Completion: 1:24 Model of a Whelen Liberty Lightbar

And that's a wrap. Well, almost. I need to bump up the amplification on the headlights and decal the model, but other than that, it is finished! The entire point of the exercise was a proof of concept on an accurate modern emergency vehicle lightbar, and boy oh boy did I learn a lot along the way. I'll list those things after the video.

Construction of the Second Spline Helix & Hidden Staging Area - Progress Update

SPLINE HELIX UPDATE: Back a few months ago, someone asked about how engines and cars would be prevented from falling off of the helix.  Originally, I thought about using cardboard or hardboard strips.  However, their use would have reduced the narrow opening between helix turns so I looked around the garage and found some left over screening (nylon or fiberglass).  I also bought some white poster board from a local office supply.

Electro or Custom?

Back from Switzerland and want to order track for delivery on my return from San Francisco trip on the 10th. It was a really great honeymoon and included trains! Some pics to follow.

Don't Fence Me In

Wrapped up the large chain link fence around Beisser Lumber, including the gate. The frame was made by soldering piano wire together. The chain link is the finest screen wire I could fine. Barbed wire is sewing thread wrapped around each post. The fence was then painted and weathered using spray paints and india ink.
