Question: Gondola vs. Hopper?
As I was working on my car card and waybill system last night a question occured to me that I had not thought of before. I couldn't come up with an answer myself, so it's off to the help of my fellow MRH modelers!
I've got some gonodolas which currently only service a single industry on my layout - Gasior Scrap. Looking for other possible customers for my gondolas it occured to me that I've seen pictures of coal mines with gondolas being spotted under the tipple to carry coal in addition to hopper cars there, but I wasn't sure why that would be?

If this link was posted already..I apologize.
pldvdk posted a topic/question about team tracks. I had an issue with my planning and have been very keen to focus on team track stuff. So I did a google search with pictures.
Found a bunch of stuff of course but one photo just jumped off the screen at me. Great prototype scenes and more ideas to model from alot of different road names.

There is a very interesting subject thread going on over on this other forum concerning automated dumping of coal cars.

There has been a good number of prototypical examples cited, as well as a number of submissions about modeling such structures
