Station Platform Sign
While railfanning recently I notice a small sign near the end of a passenger station platform for VIA, at about engineers height that was on a yellow background with the notation " 1 5/6 " . Does this have something to do as a guide for car placement on the platform?

Tall Tales - a new tradition
I tried to post this earlier and it disappeared.
I have been really entertained by our Tall Tale Tellers. While thinking about the two we just had I had an idea. We have number of great Tall Tales Tellers on the forum. I think we should start a tradition for Tall Tales. Perhaps JoeF can help us in this?
Holiday Challenge
Maybe I can start a Holiday Tradition here by issuing a challenge. Maybe JoeF can help us keep score with some sort of way to vote.
Several of the members are very good in storytelling. They give us entertainment in our hobby with their fictitious tall tales. We had the opportunity to enjoy several recently. I think it would be great to encourage this style of storytelling, tall tales. Kind of have a place for tall tales for each holiday as we do for the weekly photo section.

Layout lighting
All of the new layout lighting options leave me befuddled.
I have a 14x28 foot basement space, with a 7-foot ceiling and the floor joists above running in the 14-foot direction. Layout height will be 4 feet, plus or minus 6 inches.
Balancing cost and appearance, what's the best way to supply clear, even lighting in this space. We're modeling the Intermountain West, so clear, bright daylight is essential.
Fluorescents? Incandescent? CFL? LED?

Form 1+. Getting closer to a decent 3D printer
http://formlabs.com/en/products/form-1-plus/
25 micron (.001") resolution. Getting closer to a 3D printer that can produce decent quality prints for model railroad use.
Still needs a resolution of about half that to stand up to scrutiny, but impressive nonetheless... Not bad for $3200

Taylor George model kits
Is anyone on this forum familiar with kits made by George Taylor. I've yet been able to find an image of one of his kits or completed kits on the net.
Hats off to Jim McNabb and Kevin Klettke
I see that the layouts of both Jim McNabb (IAIS Grimes Industrial Track) and Kevin Klettke (Washington Northern) appear in Great Model Railroads 2015. Way to go guys! Those are the two best articles in the issue and Jim's article is almost (not quite, but almost) enough to convince this curmudgeon that steam locomotives and cabooses aren't really necessary. Well, maybe I could do without steam, but cabooses are sacred and doing without would be sacrilege.

In-ko-pah RR: The Roving Rooster
Over on another forum somebody came up with the idea of passing around a figurine, to be photographed on each person’s railroad. A large rooster about five inches tall was chosen. (Why a rooster? It has something to do with one of the forum members whose nickname is “Rooster”.)
Anyway, a lot of the guys were having fun with it, creating humorous stories to go with the photos. When my turn came, I got inspired and came up with this series of “newspapers” documenting the rooster’s appearance on my layout.
