Modeling general discussion

Highlights from my trip to the US
I was just looking through some pictures from my 2012-trip to the US. There are some nice ones in there, so I thought I'd share some with you guys. This first one has to be my favourite; yours truly running the "Pennsy Transfer" at Paul Dolkos' Baltimore Harbour layout.
Weekly Photo Fun October 17-23
No one's started one yet, so here goes.
Here's a work in progress that I hope to show on a layout shortly--the Grim Reaper's train. Does anyone else have a holiday train to show? Samhain, Yule, or whatever?
What happened?!?!?
Anybody want to add to this thread with some unusual pics? Found this one on the Internet.
That some tight radius curves!!!

Protoyype Rails in Cocoa Beach--how is it?
I'm thinking of going to the Cocoa Beach, FL Prototype Rails meet this coming January, but am wondering how suitable the clinics are for my level of skill. I've built a resin boxcar kit successfully, done a couple of simple scratch-builds successfully from wood with bits of plastic and brass, with manufactured parts when available (Tichy side pockets and bolsters, etc.) Weathering skills, as yet, are essentially nonexistent.

In-ko-pah RR: Upgrade projects
The past few months, I've had no time for modeling due to a lot of "real life" obligations. I'm finally starting to get a little bit of time, and have used it for a couple of upgrade projects on my 1/24th scale In-ko-pah Railroad...

Face to a Name
I find its really nice to be able to put a face to a name on this forum and appreciate all those who have done it so far eg, Michael, Rick, Verne Rob etc etc.
To date I have been slack and not followed suit. Today, however, I have changed that situation and would like to know if anyone else on the forum is OK to do the same. The process is really easy - just select My Account, click on Edit, scroll down to Picture and upload a file and just remember to click save

Keep safety in mind
Today while while using a cut-off disk in my Dremel tool to cut some rail gaps, the the arbor came out of the collet and before I knew what happened, it bounced off the layout and gave me a fat lip luckily not hitting or chipping a tooth. I had protective glasses on and it is sobering to think if I had not and the path it took was at my eyes! I had just changed the disk and did check the collet, it is of the finger tightening style and not the wrench type. I used the pliers after that to really make sure it is tight.
Minimum 180 degree arc measurement
I'm trying to create a layout in a very limited area and need to know what the minimum distance is between outside rails for a 180 degree turn. Engine is a 4 x 4 which I hope will decrease the magic number. Thanks ... oops .. sorry should have mentioned it's HO

N-land Pacific FreemoN at the Banning Train Fest 2014
We were invited to set up at the Banning Train Fest this year and had a great time. Nine member took part and some modules from other members were included. We have been filling a 50x70 space, but this time 30x40 was all we could fill up. We were still able to run fairly long trains, have a container carrier score card game, and do some switching. Fun stuff.
