Modeling general discussion

international community
I can't help being impressed with the international response on this web site. I only speak and write one language. Many folks on here seem to be quite fluent in more than one. I just marvel at the friendly open exchanges between folks from all over the world when talking about the hobby of model railroading. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that posts on here as your posts and pleasant manner make my day a bit brighter when I sit down and read through things written on various topics. Thanks for taking time to share with the rest of us.
Alco Models PRR E44
I just recently re-motored and re-trucked my 2 E44's. Needless to say, these models from 1978 sound like meat grinders and draw enough juice to dim the house lights!
For this conversion which is not for the feint of patience, I used a Bowser can motor, drive shafts and C628 trucks which are the same as used under the E44's. The job requires removing and relocating the body bolsters.
What's on your workbench - October 2014
Did I miss it for this month? I finally have a workbench again, and am eager to post!

Brush Painting
I have to paint some small plastic detail parts for a structure I am building. When I moved 5 years ago I made a decision to toss my paint collection, something that I had collected over 20 years. I wanted to start fresh. Now that I am back into modeling, I regretted that the moment I saw that Testors killed Polly S and Floquil. I like solvent based paints for airbrushing and am going to try TruColor in the next few weeks. However, I need something that is Acrylic that I can use with a brush at my desk.
Layout without switch machines?
Curious as to how many have layouts without switch machines of any type (electric, mechanical, ground throws etc).
Just switches with nothing attached.........the only way to change path is to flick it with your finger or a small skewer etc.
What have been your experiences, both positive and negative?
If this has been discussed before I apologize, please head me in the right direction and I'll read up. I've searched but only found discussion on how to install the various machines.
I need crossing angle help
Hi I have googled and searched all the forums and cant find the answer.
I want to build a crossing for #7 switches but cant find out which template I should use. I say #7 because that's what the free-mon group wants as minimum.
What angle do I need for crossing
Thanks
Dick

More train watching with a drone
Last evening after the close of the first day of the Brampton Train Show I did a quick flyover of part of the show floor.

It's been a while, anyone hear anything about the return of RMC?
Just wondering if the resumption is still going to happen and where things stand if it is.

Lots of new announcements...
We kinda just got bombed with a bunch of new event announcements all at once.
